KARE 11, our award-winning NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, is looking for a Director of Sales who is energized by transformation and motivated to drive results across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
This is not your traditional sales leadership role. We’re looking for a builder—someone who understands how to lead in a converging media landscape, can recruit and retain high-performing teams, and knows how to unlock revenue through both legacy and emerging platforms. The ideal candidate thrives on challenge, adapts fast, and sees growth where others see disruption. You’ll report to the General Manager and partner closely with marketing, content, and product teams to deliver best-in-class advertising solutions to clients—from the local bakery to national brands.
What You’ll Do
- Drive revenue across all platforms—linear, digital, and OTT—with a focus on enterprise and consultative selling.
- Lead and grow a high-performing team that thrives in a culture of accountability, innovation, and results.
- Champion streaming and digital solutions that meet client needs and evolve with audience behavior.
- Build deep relationships with key decision-makers and become a trusted advisor to clients across industries.
- Embrace change and lead transformation, helping shape the sales strategy for the streaming-first future.
- Forecast, price, and manage inventory with precision to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Leverage national tools and data—like Premion, AI-driven analytics, and cross-platform attribution—to optimize campaigns and prove ROI.
- Serve as a community leader, representing KARE 11 across boards, business groups, and industry events.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of proven success in sales leadership—TV, digital, or ideally both.
- Strategic thinking with a passion for building culture, developing talent, and hitting aggressive goals.
- Comfort with change and a drive to innovate in a transforming media environment.
- A track record of selling integrated media solutions and delivering measurable impact.
- Strong interpersonal, forecasting, and communication skills.
- Experience with platforms like Wide Orbit, Matrix, ShareBuilder is a plus.
Compensation
Unlimited earning potential tied to performance. Top performers typically earn around $350,000+ range, through competitive base salary and uncapped performance incentives.
TEGNA also offers a robust benefits package.

TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.
Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
