Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to lead a team as part of the Website Platform group. The mission of Website Platform is to modernize and evolve Squarespace's primary product offering, our Website builder and CMS. This includes developing systems and platforms for both our internal and external customers to build features on top of the Website builder in a safe and self service way. This role calls for a technical manager with full stack experience that can lead by example to create engineering solutions for maintenance and technical debt, system design and architecture.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Director.

You'll Get To…

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team of experienced Software Engineers ICs across a spectrum of seniority.
  • Assume an active role in the career development of direct reports with regular 1:1s, direct feedback, coaching.
  • Exercise technical expertise in reviewing projects initiatives and selecting new projects to pursue.
  • Participate in system design, best practices and architecture discussions to inform our future roadmap.
  • Lead large-scale initiatives that impact millions of customers.

Who We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of industry experience shipping web applications across large codebases with many contributors.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a Product engineering team of four or more engineers.
  • Ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through documents and presentations.
  • Strong technical foundations to navigate the inherent tradeoffs in product engineering decisions
  • A manager who prioritizes an inclusive culture of psychological safety and technical rigor.
  • A technical manager who can lead by example, including writing and reviewing code.

Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
