GLOBAL PLANNING MANAGER

SpaceX is on a fast track to become the market leader in various product categories like US based human spaceflight, rapid vehicle reusability, internet services through the Starlink constellation, and others exciting projects. The SpaceX supply chain department is a critical player in our operations. To capitalize on SpaceX’s technological and market changing successes, our team will be part of managing an agile, yet robust, supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for the company. SpaceX supply chain will play a key role in enabling SpaceX to meet these ambitious growth targets and greatly contribute in making us a multi-planetary species.

This is a high-profile, cross functional position that plays an integral role in enabling production flow and supporting launch manifest and key developmental goals. Working in close coordination with engineering and manufacturing departments, supply chain planners execute effective, creative, and smart supply chain strategies to achieve production goals. The functions within the supply chain management include material requirements planning, delivery management, dock-to-stock coordination, and inventory management. With integration taking place in-house, supply chain managers are able to see their assemblies come to life every day!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead planning strategies to maximize product flow for meeting product launch dates and to support production volumes.
  • Reconcile sales forecasts and financial plans and translate these into forecasts to ensure production plans will support revenue targets.
  • Drive operational excellence based on the continuous review of current processes and the identification of opportunity areas that create efficiencies and remove obstacles.
  • Collaborate with both commercial and strategic sourcing teams to ensure the product and the factory will be ready for production as planned as well as executing to the schedule agreements.
  • Maintain accurate MRP inputs, diagnose incorrect MRP outputs, and utilize MRP functionality to manage supply and demand efficiently.
  • Providing input, guidance, and driving the future evolutions of MRP and planning.
  • Lead and complete projects through strong communication skills and effectively influence cross-functional business areas.
  • Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement and performance for assigned products.
  • Regularly communicates with stakeholders across the business to execute on goals and establish effective feedback loops.
  • Drives standardization and operational alignment across groups
  • Responsible for driving rate readiness reviews.
  • Lead large scale projects designing and implementing enhancements to our business in partnership with strategy, business, production and engineering partners.
  • Manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously and partner closely with numerous cross-functional partners across the organization to ensure best-in-class collaboration across all operational projects.
  • Manage value stream from concept to end of life to ensure Continuity of Supply (COS) with accurate demand and forecasts in place to enable rate.
  • Own several business-critical workflows and oversee their successful global execution.
  • Setting team and individual objectives in line with Global Supply Chain targets by providing ongoing feedback, guidance and support to the team in achieving these objectives.
  • Producing and maintaining project improvement metrics, key performance indicators and analysis in support of departmental, organizational and the global supply chain needs.
  • Present value propositions to SpaceX management, including those related to insource/outsource production allocations in light of landed costs and Capital Equipment, inbound logistics modality and pallet position/storage management (inclusive of Regional Deployment Centers, product mix, and Advanced Shipping notice), and overall Production schedule relative to Sales (prevent excess, obsolescence), and Spend Management (blanket purchase orders, payment timing and pushout recommendations to hit goals like cash flow neutral).
  • Guides junior staff members in aspects of their jobs and provides strategic support whenever needed.
  • Provides a leadership role for the group through advanced knowledge in their area of specialization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated problem solving experience, providing sound business insights and recommendations
  • Proven experience working independently, to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to drive initiatives in a cross-functional environment
  • Expertise with ERP systems and purchasing/planning functions
  • Demonstrated experience translating business needs into technical requirements, working with technical partners and presenting technical content to general audiences
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel & Project, able to create pivot tables or macros, ability to create SQL queries and analyze large sets of data
  • Subject matter expert in Bill of Materials (AMRs/EMs/eBOMs/mBOMS) and work orders
  • Demonstrated track record of performance - in driving results and influencing others
  • APICS Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills"
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Experience with planning and purchasing of commodity products and 3rd party services working as a team with product development, quality, finance and sales

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel - up to 15% work week travel may be required, including international travel
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Global Planning Manager: $125,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
