4th Floor Creative is Sony Music Entertainment UK’s in-house creative & strategy hub, which unites Brand Partnerships, Sync, Visual Creative, Digital and Audience Development (D&AD). The division works with Sony Music’s iconic labels – including Columbia, RCA, Commercial Group, Ministry of Sound, Relentless, Insanity – to orchestrate best-in-class activations and amplify artist and brand stories to connect with a global audience.

The Director of Data Projects sits within the Audience team who are responsible for Insight, Analytics and CRM. As the Director of Data Projects, you will be responsible for collaborating with the other team leads, and project managing the implementation of key data strategies and solutions, driving workstreams forward and leveraging data across Streaming, Short Form, Social, Insight, CRM, Paid Media & Owned Platforms.

The role requires a strong background in data, analytics, project management as well as managerial experience. Ideally you will have had experience with working in the entertainment and media industries and have a good understanding of the digital landscape including related first- and third-party datasets.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract starting in November 2024. 

What you'll do:

  • Development of local analytics tools such as reporting, dashboarding and strategic reports.
  • Consulting with the business to identify areas of strategic analysis to deliver recommendations & best practices.
  • Collaborating with internal teams from both D&AD – Label & Sales teams, Commercial Analytics, Partner Development, Global Analytics to build out and share findings.  
  • Management of one direct report and overseeing their development while ensuring reporting consistency, collaboration and sharing of analytics capabilities or methodologies across the wider analyst community.
  • Explore new methodologies, technologies and data source in the Analytics space to enhance our business offering

Who you are:

  • Demonstrable experience in an analytics and data focused role.
  • Strong Project management skills, with the ability to manage a team to deliver projects on time.
  • Music, Entertainment and Media experience preferred. Candidate expected to be knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital landscape.
  • Experience of paid and owned digital media, and CRM datasets and functions.
  • Team leadership experience
  • A detail-orientated, excellent communicator, and enthusiastic collaborator that works well with team members.
  • Strong data analysis abilities (e.g., familiarity with Excel v-lookups, index match, pivot tables, and basic functions)
  • Experience in PowerPoint and experience with data analytics/visualization software (Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI etc.)
  • Confident in SQL, other data programming languages and have experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with Python for Analytics, and pulling data via API connections.
