The Opportunity:
Reporting to Senior Vice President, Head of Europe, this individual will oversee the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of worldwide distribution operations for our biotech pharmaceutical products, ensuring seamless alignment of physical and financial flows. This role will manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and channel partners, while leveraging SAP ERP for end-to-end order-to-cash (OTC) processes and optimizing tax strategies to enhance financial efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with expertise in pharmaceutical distribution, wholesaler and channel management, 3PL management, SAP ERP, tax strategy integration, and regulatory compliance.

Global Distribution Strategy for Europe: Develop and implement a comprehensive global distribution strategy for Europe, integrating 3PL providers, wholesalers, and channel partners with SAP ERP to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical products to markets worldwide, as well as aligning physical product flows with financial objectives.

Wholesaler Management: Select, onboard, and manage relationships with wholesalers to ensure alignment with company standards, inventory requirements, and market demands. Monitor wholesaler performance through SAP analytics to optimize stock levels and distribution efficiency.

Channel Management: Oversee distribution channels, including direct-to-pharmacy, wholesaler, and specialty pharmacy networks, to ensure effective market penetration and customer satisfaction, and coordinating with sales and marketing teams to align channel strategies with business goals.

Physical and Financial Flow Alignment: Ensure seamless integration of physical product distribution with financial flows by coordinating inventory movements, order fulfillment, wholesaler transactions, and financial reporting within SAP ERP, optimizing cash flow and operational efficiency.

Tax Strategy Optimization: Collaborate with finance and tax teams to align distribution, wholesaler, and channel strategies with tax-efficient structures, leverage regional tax incentives and transfer pricing strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with global tax regulations.

SAP ERP Order-to-Cash (OTC) Management: Oversee the end-to-end OTC process within SAP ERP, including order management, pricing, delivery scheduling, invoicing, and payment collection for distributors, wholesalers, and channel partners, to ensure alignment with physical distribution and financial reporting for accurate revenue recognition and tax compliance.

3PL Management: Manage third-party logistics providers, ensuring alignment with company standards, performance expectations, and contractual obligations. Monitor 3PL performance through SAP analytics and regular audits to support physical and financial flow synchronization.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all distribution, wholesaler, channel, 3PL, and OTC activities adhere to global regulatory requirements, including Good Distribution Practices (GDP), FDA, EMA, and other regional standards, while aligning with tax compliance requirements.

Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams to streamline distribution processes, leverage SAP ERP, 3PL, and wholesaler capabilities to reduce lead times, optimize inventory, and minimize costs while maintaining product integrity and financial accuracy.

Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) within SAP to evaluate 3PL, wholesaler, channel, and OTC process performance, including order fulfillment rates, delivery timelines, cash-to-cash cycle times, and tax strategy effectiveness, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, tax regulation changes, wholesaler performance, and channel conflicts, ensuring 3PL providers and SAP-supported processes have robust contingency plans.

Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) with 3PL providers, wholesalers, and channel partners, ensuring alignment with SAP-driven financial, operational, and tax strategy goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, quality assurance, finance, and tax teams to align distribution, wholesaler, channel, 3PL, OTC, and tax strategies with business objectives, leveraging SAP for integrated data and reporting.

Data & Reporting: Utilize SAP ERP analytics to monitor 3PL, wholesaler, and channel performance, forecast demand, track OTC metrics, and assess tax strategy outcomes, generating reports for senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with 3PL providers and wholesalers to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into distribution operations, using SAP to track and optimize shipping routes and reduce packaging waste, while aligning with tax incentives for sustainable practices.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:

Advanced degree required with a specialization or significant experience in distribution & trade, or supply chain processes.

Minimum 18+ years of relevant work experience including regional or global leadership roles.

Demonstrated experience on establishing a European distribution & trade platform from scratch.

Strong experience using ERP to build OTC process to optimize cash flow and build efficiency.

Demonstrated experience evaluate and select appropriate 3PL providers and wholesalers and build effective metrics to measure performance accordingly.

Build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders such as commercial, finance, tax, manufacturing, supply chain, regulatory, and legal.
