The Opportunity:

The Revolution Medicines Information Sciences department is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator who will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our organization's IT infrastructure. The role involves ensuring that the server, virtualization, storage, & and application infrastructure is secure, reliable, and available to users while meeting organizational needs and industry standards.  You will be a key member of the IT team, working to design, maintain and expand a robust infrastructure that meets the needs of today and is scalable for the future.  You will report to the Senior Director of Information Technology and work closely with colleagues across all disciplines. This role requires a strong technical background in systems administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex systems and ensuring the reliability and security of critical IT services.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and ongoing management of hybrid cloud solutions across on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments, ensuring seamless integration and optimizing for performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

  • Administer, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and platforms.

  • Develop and maintain VMware virtualization environments, ensuring resilience and consistent uptime for critical services.

  • Optimize backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and support business continuity.

  • Manage and optimize storage solutions, including SAN/NAS systems, and RAID configurations to ensure data accessibility, reliability, and performance.

  • Install, configure, and manage system software, including operating systems, middleware, and utilities.

  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, implementing proactive measures to optimize resource utilization and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Respond to system alerts and incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize downtime and service disruptions.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Collaborate with other company functions and internally with IS team to solve technical issues and find cross functional solutions to ongoing challenges and requirements.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with team members through training sessions, presentations, and documentation reviews.

  • Stay informed on industry developments and emerging tech to propel innovation and improve system capabilities.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Proven track record in a similar role, with extensive experience in systems administration across hybrid cloud environments, including Azure, AWS, and on-premises systems (Dell, HP).

  • Expertise in managing and optimizing Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring security, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware, with experience in configuring high availability environments.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash, enabling sophisticated automation and effective system management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, evidenced by a history of enhancing system performance and resolving complex technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead and work within cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

  • Expertise with storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage, and the ability to manage and optimize these systems for peak performance.

  • Extensive experience with IT management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Egnyte, and Smartsheets, enhancing project management and team productivity.

  • Knowledge of security practices, including the management of SSL certificates and ADCS.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Extensive experience with Egnyte cloud storage

  • Experience with creating and managing complex SmartSheet workflows

  • Experience in working in Regulated environments

The expected salary range for this role is $155,000 to $187,000. An individual’s position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
