Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit high-value frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

Revolution Medicines is seeking a scientifically talented individual to join our world-class Discovery Chemistry team. This position will be focusing on early hit discovery and has opportunities to play a critical role through the stages of drug discovery, including hit-to-lead, lead optimization and delivering high-quality anti-cancer drug candidates. This role is managerial, reporting into the Director, Medicinal Chemistry.

The Opportunity:

  • Propose research plans, identify critical issues, and overcome scientific challenges to advance research projects

  • Work closely with other medicinal chemists and cross-functional teams (Biology, DMPK, Pharmacology, Discovery Sciences, CMC) to meet the timelines

  • Supporting Medicinal Chemistry efforts to deliver high quality lead compounds across multiple new targets/projects via optimal Design-Make-Test-Analyze cycles

  • Provide research project updates and communicate effectively across functional teams at Revolution Medicines

  • Present research results at scientific meetings, contribute publications in peer-reviewed literature, and prepare patent applications

  • Enhance our operational efficiency & flexibility through the management of external chemistry CRO resources, continuous improvement activities and implementation of best practice

  • Support a culture of creativity and commit to the Chemistry department vision to build a sustainable portfolio through transformative scientific research

  • Managing, coaching and mentoring scientists across the Medicinal Chemistry function in order to develop their skills and build RevMed’s organizational capabilities.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Ph.D. degree in chemistry

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with a track record of scientific innovation in the medicinal chemistry discipline

  • Working knowledge of modern medicinal chemistry and drug discovery techniques

  • Track record of involvement in identifying a development candidate with a deep understanding of hit and lead generation, structure-based drug design and lead optimization

  • Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing activities

  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound technically driven decision-making ability

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • An innovative team-player and leader with capacity to be effective in our dynamic and fast-paced company environment

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Experience in leading and managing early discovery projects

  • Experience in oncology drug discovery

  • Track record of both scientific and people leadership across multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams including evidence of successful coaching, mentorship and development of both individuals and teams in order to build long-term organizational capability

The expected salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000. An individual’s position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
