Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers.  The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

  • Playing a critical role as the head of Discovery Sciences responsible for supporting all early drug discovery efforts from target evaluation, hit generation, compound characterization, and lead generation/lead optimization SAR screening.
    • Leading the biophysical, biochemical, and cell-based screening efforts within the Discovery Chemistry Department at Revolution Medicines and secure the development of robust screening assays with enhanced efficiency and/or multiplexing along with the ability to summarize and contextualize data to enable informed decisions at the team level.

    • Design assays and screening strategies for driving the current and future RevMed portfolio; identifying and implementing the most suitable technologies for drug identification/characterization studies and proactively determining rate-limiting steps and key decisional activities to advance RevMed discovery programs.

    • Managing, coaching, and mentoring scientists across the discovery sciences function in order to develop their skills and build RevMed’s organizational capabilities.

    • Participating in nominating new frontier cancer targets in. close collaboration with other functions, establishing new drug discovery programs in the RevMed portfolio, and expanding the scope of our proprietary Tri-Complex platform alongside developing our Lead Generation toolkit towards identifying new chemical matter through various screening technologies such as DEL, FBDD, HTS and phenotypic screening approaches.

    • Supporting Medicinal Chemistry efforts to deliver high quality lead compounds across multiple new targets/projects via optimal Design-Make-Test-Analyze cycles.

    • Being a partner in the scientific activities of other outstanding scientists across Revolution Medicines and helping create an environment where we channel scientific curiosity to build and deliver a sustainable portfolio.

    • Advancing the RevMed Research Portfolio and helping build our scientific reputation through presentation/publication of project results in scientific meetings and peer-reviewed literature, as guided by RevMed publication policies, to build our scientific reputation.

    • Enhancing our operational efficiency & flexibility through the management of external CRO resources, continuous improvement activities and implementation of best practice.

    • Identifying, establishing, and leading partnerships with selected strategic technology partners focused on supporting RevMed projects.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline with over 10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry alongside a strong track record of scientific innovation in assay development, screening, and compound mechanism of action studies.

  • Demonstrable track record of identifying, validating, and progressing lead compounds against challenging targets with a deep understanding of all aspects of hit and lead generation.

  • Deep knowledge of various Hit ID approaches like DEL, FBDD, HTS, virtual screening and required follow up activities to generate high quality lead compounds.

  • Proven track record of both scientific and people leadership across multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams.

  • Recognized as an intellectual leader in the early phases of drug discovery with a track record of patents, publications, and project achievements.

  • Innovative team-player with high energy for our fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve research goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Experience in leading and managing early discovery projects.

  • Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing activities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with interdepartmental teams.

  • Evidence of successful coaching, mentorship and development of both individuals and teams in order to build long-term organizational

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Highly desirable, experience in identifying hits and leads against challenging targets.

  • Knowledge of oncology therapeutic area and drug discovery.

The expected salary range for this role is $235,000 to $281,000. An individual’s position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
