We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the design of our next-generation travel app, creating intuitive, engaging, and highly functional digital experiences. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of travel tech for a beloved brand.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Design Strategy: Define and drive the design vision for Lonely Planet travel app, ensuring alignment with our brand’s legacy while pushing innovation in the digital space.
  • User-Centered Design: Conduct extensive user research and usability testing to understand traveler needs, behaviors, and pain points, translating insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Push the Boundaries of UX: Drive cutting-edge, intuitive UX design by rethinking and reimagining what a best-in-class travel experience can be. Use creativity to push the limits of human interaction design and craft experiences that feel both natural and novel to users.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the app’s design is cohesive and effectively meets business objectives.
  • App Design Leadership: Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that deliver a seamless and delightful user experience across all app platforms (iOS and Android).
  • Maintain Brand Integrity: Ensure consistency with the brand’s voice and heritage, while adapting design elements to modern user expectations in the digital travel space.
  • Innovation & Trends: Stay informed about the latest design trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in the travel and app industries, bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and guide other designers on the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and growth.

What We're Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on mobile app design.
  • Proven experience in designing for the travel, hospitality, or lifestyle industries is highly desirable.
  • Mastery of design, libraries, & prototyping in Figma
  • Exceptional skills in user research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping.
  • Experience leading large-scale design projects, from concept to delivery, within agile product operating teams.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile app designs with a focus on user experience, usability, and innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for travel and a deep understanding of the modern traveler's journey.

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $130,000 -$170,000*
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
