Red Ventures is looking for a highly technical, results-oriented, and innovative Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team responsible for data and application development. We are looking for a collaborative leader who will understand our people, business, technology, and customer needs. RV EDU is proudly headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is dedicated to cultivating local talent and driving economic development on the island. While many of our roles are located in Puerto Rico, some are also located at RV’s main campus south of Charlotte, NC, or are remote-based. 

This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based out of our San Juan, Puerto Rico office, with in-office Monday-Thursday and fully remote work on Fridays each week. What You'll Do

As an Engineering Manager, you will have the critical leadership role of enabling excellence, productivity, and growth within RV Education’s engineering organization. This role involves both technical and managerial responsibilities, including project planning, resource allocation, and performance management. You crave the opportunity for hands-on mentorship, and to accelerate not only your career, but for those of your team as well. Your responsibility would come in several forms, including but not limited to:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers by helping the team define, set, and adhere to goals and expectations
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture by driving a culture around excellence, learning, and connectedness
  • Critically observe and improve development and management processes within RV Education engineering
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and other departments stakeholders such as Customer Experience Associates, Product Managers, Designers, SEO Associates, and Editorial leads to deliver high quality software at a rapid pace for an ever-improving portfolio
  • Change, and be a part of key decision-making processes within the engineering organization
  • Our tech stack is primarily React / NextJS on the front end, WordPress (decoupled) / PHP / Apache / MySQL / GraphQL on the backend, and Github Actions / Terraform for infrastructure/ AWS Services.

What We're Looking For

  • 1-2+ years of experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on software engineering industry experience. You will be leading a team of junior through senior level engineers so you need to be technically very strong.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership. Strong fundamentals in software architecture at scale, effective engineering processes, and cross-team function.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React and NextJS.
  • Experience with tried content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Technical background with proficiency in APIs and container based and serverless backend technologies.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security fundamental
  • You love scaling up through well-written documents and well-defined processes. 
  • You are compassionate, put people first as a mentor, and are tactful with both accepting and delivering criticism to others.
  • You have the leadership skills to think and execute strategically but are not afraid to get your hands dirty when needed.
  • Your technical understanding of engineering systems, especially related to modern architectures, is world-class.

  • You have a high level of understanding SEO concepts.

Compensation

  • Compensation Range: $130,000 - 200,000*
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience
