What We’re Looking For:
Entrees (Requirements):
- 5+ years as a leader in software development, preferably at a SaaS company
- Programming: Python, SQL, Terraform
- Data Modeling: Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and practices
- Big Data Technologies: Databricks, Spark, Structured Streaming
- Databases: Relational (Postgres) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases
- Monitoring & Observability: DataDog
- Cloud Platforms: AWS or Azure and their data solutions
- Data Governance: Understanding data privacy, security, and governance practices
- AI/ML Integration: Understanding of integration of AI/ML models into data pipelines
- Version Control: Git, GitHub
- Demonstrable experience as a leader in geographically distributed teams building SaaS products, preferably US and Eastern Europe
- Strong interpersonal and people-management skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong sensibility for “keeping it simple”, and an ability to manage systems complexity by utilizing the simplest tool for a given job
- Experience as a senior-level hands-on contributor, and deep knowledge of both general software engineering best practices, as well as specific expertise relevant to the technology stack in use on the Open Commerce platform
- Comfort and experience with interacting with internal leadership as well as technical counterparts in customer or partner organizations
Unleash your potential: What you will be doing and owning:
- Reporting to the Sr Director of Engineering, manage a small, semi-distributed group of engineers.
- Function as a player-coach: contribute 75% of your time as an expert-level senior contributor to our systems, functioning as a senior engineer on the PAR Retail data team.
- Regularly engage in code review, pairing, and presentational activities to continually push our engineering team to greater excellence in building modern, resilient, and extensible systems.
- Support your engineering reports by developing technical and career growth plans, coaching via hands-on support, and holding regular 1-1 meetings.
- Continually push yourself to grow as a software engineer by regularly exposing yourself to new software technology via participation in meetups, regular review of online communities, conferences, books, and/or any other means of professional development.
- Work with your peers and our Sr Director of Engineering to continually improve our predictable, repeatable, measurable, scalable Engineering Machine.
- Support recruiting efforts.
- Coach and mentor other engineers in a constant drive towards greater personal skill and excellence; seek to build a mature software engineering team with increasing leadership capacity, enabling further scaling of our engineering operations.
- Foster a strong team culture around an emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaboration and product-focused mentality.
- Advocate for the needs of your engineering team with stakeholders across the PAR Retail organization.
- Get involved with the code development process, deeply, when necessary, possibly helping with investigations of important technical issues.
- In collaboration with the Product organization, participate in roadmap creation and contribute to the strategic direction of the company. Provide support in scoping and estimation activities, and collaborate on the definition of product improvements and features.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $196,000 USD per year commensurate with work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments. The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.
