Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 +Bonus

Office location: Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 0PQ

Working hours: 8:45am – 5:15pm

Our Lead Tester will work in close collaboration with the Head of Product Delivery and our Software Development team to assess software quality – initially through manual testing but with a remit to introduce and implement end-to-end test automation. You’ll have a passion for ensuring that every release provides the best experience and value for users.

You’ll possess strong mentoring skills with a natural ability to build and improve on critical thinking in order to ensure that test and development strategies always have a customer centric. Through analysis of software and systems, risk mitigation and awareness of software issues, you’ll evaluate and implement testing methodologies and approaches to ensure software delivery is seamless.

Our technical environment is a Microsoft Tech Stack and we’ll need you to be familiar with a range of test suites – sourcing and pitching the best tools for the function. You’ll have working knowledge of test management software (e.g. GitLab, qTest, Zephyr) and will present business cases for investment to the Chief Technology Officer with a focus on long-term ROI.

Confident and approachable, your expert communication skills will allow you to collate and convey functional and technical information clearly to colleagues from all department and at all levels.

What you’ll be doing:

Taking ownership of our existing testing, you’ll first gain a detailed understanding of our current software design and end-user functionality
As part of our application modernisation, you’ll lead us into a new model of agile automated testing, selecting the tools and techniques to allow us to succeed
Shaping technical solutions in collaboration with business analysts, developers and architects
Establishing a formal QA testing process to improve software quality, in line with the Agile methodologies
Writing test statements, executing test cases, analysing results, creating logs and reporting errors to the development team
Test planning, coordination, execution, reporting using test management tools
Maintaining defect reports and queues using defect management tools e.g. Visual Studio Team Services (TFS)
Using SQL to automate test efforts (generating test data and validating bug fixes)
Completing post-release and post-implementation testing

What you’ll need:

A very strong technical background with extensive knowledge Quality Assurance
Detailed knowledge of QA testing processes to improve software quality, in line with the Agile methodology
Web, windows, mobile and API testing experience
In-depth knowledge of Automation Testing (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber)
Practical experience with cross-browser/mobile testing using relevant tools such as browser stack
Capability with data analysis and reporting and use of analytics to guide testing
Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks
Experience working directly on business transformation products and strategy
Excellent communication skills and experience of stakeholder manager and conflict resolution
Experience of change planning and management
A strategic mindset and ability to analyse and solve problems
