About Particle

Particle Health is revolutionizing healthcare data analytics and interoperability. Our mission is to unlock the power of medical records in an intelligent platform that focuses health back on the patient.

Through our modern data platform, we enable healthcare innovators—ranging from value-based care providers and payers to digital health companies and health systems—to access standardized, real-time patient data. By bridging fragmented data silos, Particle empowers organizations to tackle critical use cases such as care coordination, risk stratification, patient identity management, and regulatory compliance with ease and precision.

Our solutions of Snapshot, Signal, Navigator, and Workbench address the complex challenges of healthcare data analytics and interoperability, helping our customers transform data into actionable insights, improve patient outcomes, and streamline workflows.

About the Role

As an API / Backend Engineer at Particle Health, you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining the core services that power our healthcare data platform. You'll work primarily with Golang and Python to develop robust, scalable APIs that enable our customers to access and utilize healthcare data effectively. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful technical challenges while contributing to the transformation of healthcare technology.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our healthcare partners. • Implement authentication, authorization, and data validation mechanisms for API endpoints
  • Create clear API documentation and maintain developer-friendly interfaces
  • Optimize API performance and implement caching strategies where appropriate
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to understand data pipelines and integrate backend services with data processing workflows
  • Partner with product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Support customer integrations and troubleshoot API-related issues
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmap discussions
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes and tooling

What We Seek:

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in backend development with a focus on API design and implementation
  • Proficiency in Golang with demonstrable experience building production services
  • Working knowledge of Python and comfort switching between languages as needed
  • Experience with RESTful API design principles and best practices
  • Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of API security, authentication patterns (OAuth, JWT), and data privacy considerations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with AI Coding Tools like Github Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with healthcare data formats and standards (FHIR, HL7, CCDA)
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools (data pipelines, ETL processes)
  • Experience with GCP and Terraform
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems
  • Experience with gRPC
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC2)

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A passion for building reliable, well-documented APIs that developers love to use
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to code quality
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with practical delivery timelines
  • Curiosity about healthcare technology and eagerness to learn domain-specific concepts
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in cross-functional teams

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
