About the Job

We’re hiring a Vice President, Donor Operations to manage Ossium’s entire donor ecosystem. This begins with donor screening and runs all the way through chart release. You’ll lead Ossium’s recovery partnership initiatives with new groups, attend conferences to represent Ossium, and act as the expert on all donor topics. The donors your team manages will go on to help patients through both bone marrow and viable bone matrix products.

In this role, you’ll work closely with leadership at our recovery partners to onboard new teams and make updates to contracts and processes. Internally, you’ll coordinate with Production leadership to balance processing slots with available donors and to ensure on time delivery of sterile donor tissue, and you’ll collaborate with Quality to verify recovery partners are audited and approved for clinical recovery. Ossium’s Donor Services, Recovery Services, Donation Compliance, and Donor Quality functions will all report to you, and you will report directly to the CEO.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience as a senior leader at an OPO (Organ Procurement Organization), tissue processor, or biotech company
  • Strong understanding of the organ and tissue donation ecosystem, including screening, recovery, and quality
  • Demonstrated history of building relationships and working closely and constructively with outside groups
  • Comfort with Quality Management Systems, familiarity with AATB standards, and proven effective operation in a GTP, GMP, and/or CLIA compliant operation
  • Outstanding project management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Capability to operate with a high level of organization and excellent time management in a fast-paced startup environment
  • This position is based in our San Francisco office; we maintain a hybrid schedule of Monday - Thursday in the office, with Friday as a remote work day

Preferred Qualifications

  • A BS or BA in biological sciences or related field
  • Experience working in the quality department of an OPO or tissue processor

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee donor screening process, including supporting initiatives to automate and simplify screening for both partners and Ossium
  • Review and approve all donor related SOP updates
  • Act as business partner with Legal when drafting updates to agreement or reviewing redlines from recovery partners
  • Supervise operation of and monitor quality metrics pertaining to donor status, chart release, pending items, recovery partner audits, and recovery partner quality performance
  • Develop and share trusting relationships with each donor department team member and recruit, manage, and develop department staff
  • Analyze workflows across the department and recommend methods for effective and efficient operation
  • Recommend and author new or improved methods, procedures, and systems

In your first six months some projects you’ll work on include:

  • Comprehensively reviewing Ossium chart intake and review process, identifying improvements, and implementing changes to strengthen and scale our donor chart review capabilities
  • Finishing building out our robust chart intake and review process, monitoring outcomes, and modifying as needed
  • Finalizing and rolling out updates to our recovery partner quality reporting system
  • Tracking outcome of donation SOP updates, reporting results to leadership team, and recommending any needed changes

This position has a salary range of $175,000 to $295,000 annually. Ossium Health takes a market-based approach to pay. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. This range may be modified in the future.
