Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

The design team

We’re a distributed team of designers who share work early, give each other honest feedback, and keep things collaborative. We care about the details, but we also care about making progress and learning along the way.

Designers here have real ownership. We influence product direction alongside engineering and product management, and we shape experiences that reach millions of people worldwide.

Some days we’re refining a tricky flow, other days we’re sketching ideas for what’s next in identity and developer tools. We use async tools like Loom and Figma comments to stay connected across time zones, and we make space to experiment and grow. At the Staff level, you’ll also help mentor other designers and set patterns that raise the bar for the whole team.

The opportunity

You’ll join our Emerging Products team, the group at Auth0 focused on building and scaling the next wave of identity and security capabilities. We take new ideas in areas like AI, fine-grained authorization, and developer experience, and turn them into real, customer-ready products.

We’re working on:

  • AI + Identity: securing AI assistants and agents with identity-aware authorization.

  • Cross-App Access: seamless, policy-driven flows between apps and accounts.

  • Fine-Grained Authorization (FGA): real-time, user-specific access control down to the document level.

  • Token Vault: simplifying secure storage and refresh of OAuth tokens from providers like Google, Salesforce, and AWS.

  • AI Integrations: SDKs, frameworks, and integrations that help developers adopt emerging features with minimal friction.

In short: Emerging Products is where Auth0 builds and delivers the future of identity.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define roadmaps and bring clarity to ambiguous, frontier problems.

  • Design experiences across SDKs, CLIs, APIs, and web interfaces that developers rely on.

  • Simplify complex identity and authorization workflows into usable, scalable patterns.

  • Contribute to and evolve our design system while experimenting with new patterns for emerging use cases.

  • Collaborate with Research to run usability testing and translate insights into design improvements.

  • Use both qualitative and quantitative data to validate design decisions and measure impact.

  • Share your work early and often, participating in critiques and collaborating across teams.

  • Contribute to design culture at Okta, helping raise the bar for craft, collaboration, and systems thinking.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in product design, ideally with developer platforms, B2B SaaS, or technical tools.

  • Strong UI/UX/visual design craft, with a portfolio that demonstrates systems thinking and end-to-end ownership.

  • Experience designing for technical audiences (SDKs, APIs, developer tooling, or security products).

  • Ability to translate highly technical or abstract problems into usable, elegant solutions.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in fast-moving, experimental environments.

  • Strong communication skills; you can tell the story of your design decisions and align diverse stakeholders.

Bonus points if you have

  • Familiarity with front-end development (React, NextJS, HTML/CSS/JS).

  • Familiarity with emerging AI technologies (e.g., v0, prompting LLMs, Figma Make) and how they can be applied to user experience design.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools in your design process, with awareness of ethical and privacy considerations when designing with AI.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
