We’re growing, and we’re looking for a Project Controls Lead to join our team in Nisku, AB. This position plays a key role in overseeing planning, scheduling, and cost control across major projects and will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our execution teams.

Your Opportunity at Michels Canada
As Project Controls Lead, you will lead project controls activities for high-profile infrastructure projects from our Nisku office. You’ll manage cost and scheduling functions, develop performance reports and forecasts, and provide guidance on budgeting and planning strategies. This is a leadership role that includes mentoring team members and ensuring that Michels Canada’s project controls standards are consistently applied.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, cost tracking, forecasting, and scheduling efforts for assigned projects
- Review and validate proposal financial summaries, earned revenue data, and project working capital calculations
- Develop and present project controls reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Plan and manage staffing needs for the project controls team
- Provide mentorship, feedback, and training to project controls staff
- Support claims management, change tracking, and schedule/cost impact analysis
- Ensure compliance with project control procedures and promote best practices company-wide
- Promote and uphold Michels Canada's safety, environmental, and core cultural values
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, scheduling, and project controls within construction, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Experience leading a project controls team or function
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Viewpoint, Tilos) is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence, collaborate, and manage conflict effectively
