The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC is invested in the world’s game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Marketing Strategy, is responsible for developing and managing digital marketing campaigns across email, text, and app communications, with a focus on growth marketing, new digital revenue opportunities, and achieving LAFC business goals. Thus, this position will require knowledge of and the ability to extract data and produce insights from a myriad of sources, including internal resources and external secondary research. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who is comfortable working cross-functionally and cross-collaboratively across various departments and working with stakeholders at all levels.  

This role reports to the VP, Business & Data Strategy with a dotted line to the EVP, Marketing. 

LAFC is currently operating on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 1 – 2 in-office days per week. Please note that this may vary by role, and your scheduled in-office days are up to the discretion of your supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, manage, and execute email marketing calendar and digital marketing campaigns. 
  • Build and execute digital customer journeys to raise brand affinity and awareness, increase engagement rates, and generate conversions for key marketing and sales objectives. 
  • Perform day-to-day email marketing activities including building HTML emails, email campaign set-up, database and list segmentation, A/B testing and reporting. 
  • Work with creative and content teams to develop advertising collateral, specifically for email, text, and app channels that align with the club voice and intended audience. 
  • Collaborate with the business and data strategy team to segment databases into distinct, actionable audiences using advanced marketing automation tools. 
  • Manage audiences across email marketing and CRM platforms. 
  • Create and maintain high quality marketing analytics dashboards and reports for organization-wide use, specifically the leadership team. 
  • Analyze campaign performance across all distribution channels. 
  • Grow the email database while maintaining its health by managing delivery, contact frequency, and content. 
  • Produce and deliver compelling presentations that visualize key observations and insights based on analysis of marketing data, etc. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to drive innovation, optimization, and enhance customer experiences. 
  • Serve as club liaison to MLS digital, marketing, and e-commerce representatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred. 
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a consumer or digital marketing role preferred. 
  • Previous experience managing email marketing programs required. 
  • Previous experience working with an email service provider and managing daily email campaigns required. 
  • Solid understanding of HTML and email design best practices across desktop, mobile, and tablet. 
  • Previous experience with SAS Viya or Customer 360 platform. 
  • Previous experience with presentation development tools (VISME or PowerPoint preferred).  
  • Previous experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred).  
  • Previous experience with demographic data tools is a plus (YouGov, Scarborough, Nielsen preferred).  
  • Previous experience with CRM systems is a plus (Salesforce preferred).  
  • Previous experience with survey creation, distribution and analysis is a plus (Qualtrics preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA policies. 
  • Knowledge of domestic and global professional soccer is a plus.   
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.  
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability as a self-starter.  
  • Must be proactive, organized, and resourceful with great attention to detail.    
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced setting. 
  • Ability to work with external vendors and agencies. 
  • Must possess a high level of discretion with the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information as needed. 
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the event calendar requires. 

SALARY RANGE 

At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 per year.
