We are seeking a highly motivated PhD-level scientist skilled in natural products chemistry techniques including extractions, isolation and structure elucidation by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (MS) to impact our small molecule drug discovery platform. The primary role of this position will be to extract, purify, and identify genetically encoded small molecule leads. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute LC-HRMS/MS methods for screening fungal extracts.
- Contribute to the identification of fungal metabolites of interest via differential MS technology.
- Identification of known and de-novo small molecules by NMR techniques.
- Contribute and expand the GEMs extraction workflows.
- Perform independent hands-on experimental work utilizing mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography and other analytical techniques.
- Evaluate and/or develop new technologies and identify proprietary technical opportunities.
- Optimize sample analysis, data interpretation, and effectively communicate to cross functional teams.
- Accurately and timely documentation of experiments and results
- Generate technical documents and presentations.
Job Requirements
- PhD with 0-4 years’ experience in Natural Products Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields.
- Experience in extractions of natural products from various natural product sources, e.g. fungi or bacteria.
- Experience in liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR techniques of small molecules, ideally also experience in analytical, semi-preparative and preparative method development and optimization.
- Must have knowledge in structure elucidation (MS & NMR).
- Knowledge of basic instrumentation, troubleshooting and maintenance is a plus, as is knowledge in genomics and biosynthesis of natural products.
- Strong understanding and familiarity with laboratory methods. and safety aspects.
- Data recording, interpretation, and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Communicate progress effectively with colleagues and managers.
