Who You Are

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Engineering, AI & Data Platform to lead our data platform team and drive the evolution of the data platform to support an increasing set of data and AI initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and operation of our data platform, ensuring it’s scalable, reliable, and secure. This role requires a leader with a deep technical background and a strong vision for how platform capabilities can be leveraged to increase the quality and speed at which we deliver impactful data products.

Your Success Profile

What You Will Work On

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data platform engineers.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all data platform initiatives.
  • Define and execute the data platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with company objectives and business needs.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient data platforms to support various business applications and analytics.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data integration solutions.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, analytics, and business teams to understand their data needs and deliver solutions, while partnering with data scientists and analysts to support advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Optimize data platform workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, implementing monitoring systems to proactively address issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support/lead other AI & Data Platform-related initiatives as needed based on organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data platforms and infrastructure
  • Expertise in SQL, NoSQL databases, and data warehousing solutions, with strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with data processing frameworks
  • Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake, AWS including experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Proven ability to think like a product owner to earn credibility with internal customers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with a knack for mentoring and motivating data engineers, and working closely with data scientists and analysts to deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering business value through data, and a commitment to staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance best practices

 

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $250,000.00 to $300,000.00 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
