The Role:

At Joyous, we’re transforming mental health care with AI-driven solutions, integrating personalized treatment plans, digital interventions, and real-time analytics to improve patient outcomes. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll work directly with our CTO to lead the technical evolution of our AI-first platform, optimize existing infrastructure, and pioneer new systems to support our growing user base.

  • This will be a Hybrid role based out of our HQ in Foster City, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance & scale our existing patient portal and platform infrastructure to support rapid growth and new AI capabilities.
  • Architect & develop key components of our EHR/EMR system, AI-driven engagement tools, and video conferencing platform.
  • Design & implement AI-powered solutions that predict treatment efficacy, automate workflows, and improve patient engagement.
  • Optimize system performance, security, and scalability, ensuring a seamless experience for providers and patients.
  • Mentor engineers & drive best practices in AI integration, system architecture, and full-stack development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers, product managers, and clinicians, to build intelligent, user-friendly solutions.
  • Stay ahead of AI & cloud technologies, integrating the latest advancements to enhance our platform.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, with a focus on full-stack development.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and scaling consumer-facing products within a startup environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems and architecture with a track record of building scalable applications from scratch.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and CI/CD
