Role

As an Intrinsic IT Network Engineer, you'll be an essential part of our Information Technology team, ensuring the smooth operation and productivity of Intrinsic's digital infrastructure. This includes designing and implementing secure, reliable networks for new office and lab locations, with a focus on protecting our company's sensitive data and systems. You'll work hands-on to troubleshoot technical issues, optimize performance, and provide top-notch customer service to our users. Your expertise will be key in maintaining the hardware and software that keep our offices running smoothly. This role requires a collaborative spirit, a knack for problem-solving, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. You'll also be part of an on-call rotation, ready to tackle any challenges that come your way.

How your work moves the mission forward

  • Design networks; install, configure, and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Monitor system resources, analyze trends, and plan for capacity needs.
  • Implement security tools, policies, and procedures to ensure network security.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance (LAN, WLAN, cloud) for availability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, focusing on root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with vendors and IT personnel to resolve complex problems.
  • Follow established configuration and change management processes.
  • Administer Linux, Windows, and macOS systems, along with enterprise applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and general help desk duties (up to 20%).

Skills you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing and implementing network, communication, and security systems (Cisco/Juniper preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies with hands-on experience configuring firewalls, routers, switches, and WiFi and proven ability to design, deploy, and troubleshoot complex network infrastructures, including LAN/WAN and VoIP.
  • Skilled in using network monitoring and packet analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump) for troubleshooting and security analysis.
  • Deep understanding of network security protocols and best practices (e.g., SSH, SSL/TLS, IPsec, VPNs).
  • Experience with scripting and automation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $162,000 to $172,125 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
