Part of the Office of the CTO, the Information Security team is chartered with protecting Illumio's information and technology assets. We believe security is a business enabler, and that achieving our security objectives happens through close collaboration, ruthless prioritization, and listening to the needs of our stakeholders. As a security software vendor  to the largest enterprises in the world, we need to hold ourselves to a very high standard for security. 

Your Impact: 

As the Vice President, Information Security, you will set the tone for security within Illumio. You will be instrumental in both establishing a secure environment and helping functional leaders make informed decisions around risk. By leading the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Security Engineering, and Application Security teams, you will ensure the organization stays resilient against emerging threats while maintaining compliance to meet regulatory and customer needs. Your leadership will influence the organization’s risk posture, build trust with customers, and strengthen relationships with partners and regulators. You will also be a key advisor to the executive team and provide real-world perspective to Illumio's product teams. 

While at Illumio, you will: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aligned with Illumio's corporate goals, executing against a roadmap of continuous improvement. 

  • Lead and manage the information security team, with a focus on excellence, empathy, and adaptability. Grow the team's capabilities, fostering professional growth and skills development. 

  • Own and publish information security policies, leveraging cross-functional input. 

  • Collaborate with IT, Operations, Engineering, Product Management, and other stakeholders to identify security risks and develop appropriate treatment plans. 

  • Engage with customers as needed to address their concerns and questions about the security of Illumio's practices, platforms, and products. 

  • Support the company's technology and product planning process, providing a security practitioner's viewpoint. 

  • Coordinate with Legal to ensure compliance with relevant customer and regulatory requirements pertaining to security and privacy. 

  • Stay abreast of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to continuously inform the company's security program. 

  • Manage security incidents, coordinating across relevant business functions, and providing executive updates. 

  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify gaps and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements. 

  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and the board of directors on Illumio's security posture, relevant risks, and the status of security initiatives. 

Your Toolkit: 

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent job-related experience. 

  • 15+ years in security or a related field, such as IT, site reliability engineering, or engineering. 

  • 5+ years leading a security function. 

  • Proven track record of building high-performing, sustainable security teams. 

  • Deep expertise and hands-on technical knowledge in the information security, compliance, and risk management domains. 

  • Experience securing companies that provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate security concepts and strategies and influence best-practice adoption to a wide variety of audiences. 

  • Outstanding communication abilities, both written and verbal. 

Pay Range:

$308,000 USD - $370,000 USD

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or applicable laws.
