A Hybrid working model

What does a Lead Performance and Network Test Engineer do at Hogarth?
The Lead Performance and Network Test Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing complex network infrastructures, including both wired and wireless environments. In this hands-on role, the Lead will also mentor, coach, and guide a small team of QA engineers and an API specialist, ensuring smooth collaboration and high performance. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in network architecture, security, and Wi-Fi optimization, particularly in large-scale environments such as retail. Additionally, this role requires proficiency in on-device testing and automation, including documentation refinement and effective communication to support the development and success of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement complex network architectures, encompassing both wired and wireless networks, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Lead, mentor and coach a team of QA engineers and an API specialist, providing technical guidance and fostering growth within the team.
- Conduct hands-on on-device testing and automation to validate network functionality and performance, while overseeing the team’s testing efforts.
- Optimize Wi-Fi networks in various environments, using tools like Ekahau, AirMagnet, or NetSpot for wireless site surveys.
- Troubleshoot and configure network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points (APs), and apply RF principles for performance optimization.
- Implement and enforce network security best practices, including WPA2, WPA3, and 802.1X protocols.
- Develop scripts in Python and Bash to automate network performance tasks and streamline troubleshooting efforts.
- Refine and maintain technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and clarity for internal teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize network infrastructure and lead testing and automation strategies.
- Effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on network strategies and decisions.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in network engineering and performance testing, with at least 2 years of experience in a lead role.
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Proven experience in designing and implementing complex wired and wireless network architectures.
- Expertise in designing and optimizing Wi-Fi networks (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) in large-scale environments, particularly in retail settings.
- Proficiency in conducting wireless site surveys using tools like Ekahau, AirMagnet, or NetSpot to plan and optimize Wi-Fi coverage and capacity.
- Strong understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) principles, interference mitigation, and coverage planning.
- Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting wireless controllers and access points (APs).
- Deep knowledge of Wi-Fi security protocols, including WPA2, WPA3, and 802.1X.
- Expertise in network performance monitoring tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and Nagios.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash to automate network tasks and streamline network monitoring.
- Experience in a Linux/Unix Environment.
- Hands-on experience in network testing, validation, and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a technical team and work cross-functionally.
- Experience working in large-scale environments such as retail is highly preferred.
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective presentation with a dynamic attitude
