What does a CGI real-time technical artist do at Hogarth?
Our CGI real-time technical artist will be providing technical support to team members and on-going development and innovation of Real-Time CGI projects. They will also help push forward the development of our Real-Time workflows to enable global collaboration at scale while ensuring it complements the existing and future workflow requirements of our CGI teams. They will work alongside other members of the CGI teams to develop working solutions by understanding both the artistic and technical challenges that they face and supporting them on a day-to-day basis.
Key accountabilities:
- Work with the CGI Realtime Principal Technical Artist and help define/produce robust solutions and pipelines for our development using predominantly Unreal Engine
- Collaborate with other Technical Artists and Developers to ensure quality results, efficient working practices and problem solve key production issues. Identify and continually evaluate new software, processes and hardware to stay at the forefront of real-time technologies and within the Metaverse.
- Provide solid 3D software knowledge and support specifically for the CGI Real-Time workflow to all content teams. This will include Unreal Engine, blueprints, PBR, animation and vfx as well as other related topics.
- Play an active part in developing real-time particle systems, shaders, animation, motion capture and cinematics.
- Take full ownership and maintain any tools and processes developed and their corresponding documentation, providing training to artists where necessary.

Now offices are fully open we have embraced a hybrid working model, which allows our employees to split their time between the office and other locations, something we hope will provide everyone much more flexibility to their working week. The expectation is that working life at Hogarth will involve working from the office for about 50% of the time for most people. Requirements
Use the Unreal Engine to a high standard and have broad knowledge of games pipeline/processes. Experience or specialism in one of the tech art branches such as tool development/animation/rigging/shader authoring (hlsl/glsl) is ideal. Have good general CGI knowledge and a keen eye for detail. Experience in scripting languages (specifically C++ but Python and C# also an advantage).
Broad knowledge of Blueprints and in-engine tools. CAD data workflow for realtime engines, Virtual production experience and USD/GLTF knowledge all preferred. Unity experience is also useful, along with VR and AR authoring within real-time engines.
Co-operate with creative directors and art directors to incorporate feedback and be able to implement feedback from clients.
Understand and follow all production workflows and procedures, ensuring all rendered assets produced meet the required specification through quality checks.
