The role
As the Associate Director of Business Development, you will be part of the Global Retail Media Team based at our Amsterdam office, playing a pivotal role in monetizing HelloFresh’s physical and digital advertising space. Your focus will be on building strategic partnerships, coaching high-performing local sales teams, and developing scalable retail media solutions that align with our global business objectives. By driving innovation and growth across markets, this role will position HelloFresh as a leader in Retail Media Networks (RMNs).

What you’ll do
- Develop and nurture strategic partnerships: Build and manage relationships with C-level executives at global advertisers and media agencies, creating tailored retail media joint business plans that meet their needs.
- Pursue new business opportunities: Identify, pitch, and secure new retail media partnerships to expand revenue streams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with internal teams, including procurement, growth partnerships, and local RM sales teams, to design and execute effective go-to-market strategies.
- Create compelling value propositions: Develop solutions that maximize advertiser ROI while delivering mutual success.
- Coach and mentor local sales teams: Guide and support retail media sales representatives in key markets to achieve business planning goals, build robust pipelines in HubSpot, and meet quarterly targets.
- Enable global and local sales teams: Develop and maintain pitch decks, rate cards, and online forms to enhance close rates across markets.
- Analyze and leverage data: Monitor market trends, analyze performance dashboards, and turn data from campaign performance into strategic recommendations that drive better performance.
- Represent the organization: Act as a brand ambassador at global conferences, industry events, and client meetings, showcasing the company’s retail media capabilities and expand our network with large advertisers and media agencies.

- Extensive experience (10+ years preferred) in business development, advertising sales, or strategic partnerships: Ideally within Retail Media Networks, e-commerce, or related industries.
- Proven track record in strategic partnerships: Demonstrated ability to drive significant revenue growth.
- Deep industry knowledge: Strong understanding of the retail media and/or advertising landscape, including advertising sales cycles, media planning, campaign success metrics, and the evolving needs of global advertisers and media agencies.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret (trend) reports, post campaign analysis and dashboards, to extrapolate insights and next steps.
- CRM proficiency: Proven success building and managing pipelines in tools like HubSpot.
- Excellent project management abilities: Experience managing multiple initiatives, balancing competing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
- A strong professional network: An extensive agency and CPG/FMCG network to unlock retail media sales opportunities. Preferably: international/global.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field: Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience in eCommerce (CPG/FMCG), Digital Advertising, Retail Media and/or subscription business models.
- Knowledge of privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and AdTech advancements.
- Extensive knowledge of the evolving retail media landscape
