How you will help

As a Data Privacy Scientist at HealthVerity, you will be at the forefront of protecting patient privacy while enabling data innovation. Working across the organization, you’ll own and lead the identification of privacy risks and opportunities in how healthcare data is aggregated and used. Your work will foster a culture of accountability, agility, and trust, helping shape the privacy landscape in a rapidly evolving industry.

What you will do

  • Serve as a healthcare privacy subject matter expert, providing strategic and technical guidance across the company and client projects
  • Quantify and mitigate privacy risks in large, complex datasets using statistical modeling
  • Design privacy-preserving frameworks (e.g., k-anonymity, k-concealment, l-diversity) to de-identify integrated healthcare and non-standard data
  • Partner with internal teams and external partners to create, amend, and operationalize Expert Determinations
  • Work closely with statisticians and privacy experts to maintain HIPAA and industry certifications
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate privacy protocols into production systems
  • Build tools and algorithms that ensure scalable, automated privacy enforcement across big data pipelines
  • Prototype and develop features for SaaS and DaaS products related to privacy, including data classification, anomaly detection, and data discovery
  • Represent HealthVerity in the broader privacy community through publications, conferences, and thought leadership

How success will be defined

Success in this role means enabling HealthVerity and its partners to use data confidently within privacy frameworks by leading the creation, adaptation, and execution of Expert Determinations. You’ll be expected to:

  • Deliver new or amended certifications within a three-month target
  • Advise internal teams and partners on privacy requirements and solutions
  • Build scalable tools that automate compliance and detect violations
  • Operate independently on privacy initiatives and provide trusted expertise
  • Contribute to product development around data privacy and classification
  • Elevate HealthVerity’s presence in the privacy community through thought leadership

You’ll be measured by your ability to complete certifications end-to-end, improve internal privacy processes, and drive innovation while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Required skills and experience

  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, privacy frameworks, and de-identification techniques
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or a related field, or B.S. with 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to independently manage privacy determinations and build automation around privacy transformations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired skills and experience

  • Familiarity with encryption, secure multiparty computation, and probabilistic AI
  • Experience with data transformation pipelines, privacy UDFs, and data quality enforcement tools
  • Contributions to the privacy community through research, presentations or publications

Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $100,000 - 190,000 + annual bonus opportunity.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
