Why join us?

FogPharma is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering the discovery and development of Helicon™ therapeutics, which are peptides capable of efficient cell entry and modulation of both protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Through Helicon therapeutics, FogPharma is poised to revolutionize the medical possibilities for patients by precisely drugging intracellular targets long understood to be significant drivers of disease but never before drugged due to the limitations of existing drug modalities to act within the cell.

FOG-001, the company’s first-in-class TCF-blocking β-catenin inhibitor, is being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 study for patients with advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. FogPharma is fully leveraging the unprecedented potential Helicons present by deploying proprietary, custom-built machine learning and computational methods as part of its discovery and development process. FogPharma has raised more than $500 million to date from leading life sciences investors. FogPharma is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.

What’s the opportunity?

We are seeking a highly motivated director to lead our Real-World Evidence (RWE) work. The ideal candidate is an expert in Real-World Data (RWD) and RWE generation in oncology, including the use of longitudinal patient data, imaging, and multi-omic data, with demonstrated capabilities in applying state of the art machine learning, biostatistics, and data analytics to solve real world problems in areas of drug discovery and development.

You’ll be part of a data science team with responsibilities across discovery and clinical development. If you enjoy having direct impact in an integrated bench and data science R&D team and directly building computational platforms, this is the opportunity for you.

Reporting to the VP of Computational Biology, this role is responsible for the generation of RWE and the development of RWD/RWE capabilities directed toward clinical, translation, and target ID.

  • Partner with the clinical team and other computational biology teams to drive the generation of and application of valuable RWE in our clinical trials, including, but not limited to, biomarker ID, responder/non-responder ID, and trial design.
  • Lead data scientists and software engineers and work closely with cross discipline teams to drive the generation and delivery of actionable biological insights from RWD and build scientific rationale for clinical and preclinical decision making by integrating relevant RWD.
  • Supervise and ensure RWE support of discovery including target ID and preclinical development.
  • Supervise forward and reverse translation and clinical biomarker data science deliveries by partnering with clinical development and translational science teams.
  • Identify, propose, and partner with R&D informatics team to implement fit for purpose infrastructure and platform solutions to ensure scalability, quality, and to promote best practice and data and information sharing among all scientists.
  • Manage and oversee the development of the RWE aspects of the computational platform ensuring that non-data-science users find the platform easy to use and ensuring that there is high connectivity to the clinical side of the platform.
  • Be an authoritative source of knowledge and lead the development of best practice and continued improvement of the team.
  • Maintain expertise in state-of-the-art data science and RWE. Champion and lead the implementation of innovative technologies and new scientific approaches.
  • Recruit, supervise, develop direct reports.
  • Manage priorities and deliveries of the team and communicate and report findings with leadership and collaborators.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Ph.D. in Biological science, Computational Biology, Computer science, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in practicing real-world evidence.
  • 6+ years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies in supporting oncology drug discovery and/or translation medicine.
  • 4+ years of experience directly managing teams and successful projects in the biopharma industry, including the ability to influence and collaborate productively with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and capabilities including recruiting, supervising, developing diverse team members with broad backgrounds and skill-sets, conceptualizing, and leading the implementation and delivery of projects and platforms with inter-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and deploy computational RWE systems and products that are used by other scientists (either within an organization or externally).
  • Expert in start-to-end analysis and integration of longitudinal patient data, imaging, and multi-omics data with deep understanding of fundamental principles of pipelines and tools, including cutting edge machine learning.
  • Deep expertise in biostatistics, machine learning, RWD, drug discovery and translation.
  • Track record of innovative and impactful research including peer reviewed publications, public talks, and/or patents.
  • Strong desire and intellectual curiosity to continue learning new science, new engineering, and new skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ready to undertake a “moonshot mission,” and work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and matrixed environment.
  • Able to work on-site and attend in-person meetings
