About You and The Role
As a member of Zipline’s growing Avionics team, you will have the unique opportunity to work on ground-breaking test systems with a talented set of engineers and technicians committed to Zipline’s mission. You will lead a team of technicians that work on avionics boards and sensors owning the development of test systems with a wide array of cutting-edge technologies from cameras, acoustic probes, air sensors, and flight computers. Most importantly, your work building up next-gen prototypes and test systems will become critical in helping us complete vital deliveries to as many people as possible. Do you have what it takes?
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of 5+ technicians, coordinating with them on tactical execution of team tasks and supporting their career growth
- Coordinate with our project management team and technical program managers to sort priorities and track tasks and timelines on Jira
- Collaborate with design engineers to review designs and determine the best build process possible
- Collaborate with test engineers to review test campaigns and test set-ups to support test execution and data collection
- Develop and maintain standards for the team including documentation, build quality, manufacturing process instructions, test cards AND hold yourself to these same standards
- Manage prototype and lab space build inventory, from periodic stock tracking to part ordering supporting test equipment and EOL builds
- Provide weekly updates to the wider organization on team plans and progress towards completing them
- Work with other leads to manage technician resources across the department given project needs
- Making sure team has resources to be successful
What You'll Bring
- 6+ years of experience as an engineering technician performing both build and test functions
- 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership and/or people mentorship capacity
- Experience working with early stage prototypes and driving test/build with loosely-defined requirements
- Experience with design validation and reliability testing
- Experience working with Jira or similar ticketing system to track test execution and build coordination
- Experience working with inventory management tools and ordering components
- Experience working with both mechanical and electrical systems along with corresponding common tools (e.g. soldering, mill, lathe…)
- Experience performing quality checks on other technician work
- Experience working on safety-critical systems
What Else You Need to Know
The starting cash range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
