Position Summary:

The HR Manager is a critical HR role responsible for providing day-to-day HR support to multiple Flagship Labs startup companies in partnership with the HR Business Partners. This role will spend a significant portion of their time providing high touch HR support to our lab companies as they grow and scale as well as our internal functional teams.

As the onsite representative of Flagship HR team, you will be a crucial link connecting employees and Flagship Pioneering support and resources.  Through this role, you will interact with everyone in the companies and teams you support in some way, helping remove obstacles to their productivity and looking after the culture and satisfaction of the workforce.

We are looking for HR professionals who enjoy a high impact role and are extremely motivated to actively participate in the growth and scale up of these startup companies. This role offers long-term growth opportunities to progress to senior HR roles within Flagship Pioneering or the opportunity to join the startup companies they are supporting!

What you will do:

  • Partnering with the HR Business Partners, deliver on Flagship’s overall HR strategy to drive a culture of high employee engagement and success in alignment with business strategies
  • Deliver outstanding services across the full spectrum of HR activities including onboarding, employee relations, performance management/talent management, learning and development, offboarding and compliance
  • Partner with the HR Business Partner to handle company changes such as mergers or reductions
  • Support HR programs and initiatives to drive organizational effectiveness and professional development
  • Build relationships cross-functionally, partner with other HR Managers to ensure consistency across the function and prevent siloes
  • Partner with L&D to support trainings and people processes as well as relevant initiatives such as mentorship programs and affinity groups
  • Provides information and counseling to employees, including career development, compliance and company policies, etc.
  • Provides guidance to managers and supervisors regarding implementation of human resources policies and procedures to ensure appropriate and fair human resources practices.
  • Performs other HR related and assigned duties as necessary.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 – 5 years of HR experience. Exposure to the biotech/pharma industry, preferably in a startup environment is a plus
  • Proven track record working independently to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex solutions in a straightforward and clear manner to drive decision making
  • High level of self-awareness and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse employee population
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Technology savvy with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the principles/practices of HR administration
  • Must understand and remain informed of legal regulations related to HR  
  • Must be able to maintain strictly confidential information
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple locations
