Key Tasks:
- Works with Engineering, Quality, and External Manufacturing teams to provide guidance on manufacturability, robustness, DFM, and process/supplier development during new product development and on-market/sustaining support.
- Head technology transfer activities with internal teams and external manufacturing partners to transition products from development to full scale production. Activities could include, but not limited to: Cost analysis, process/supplier development, control of Manufacturing and Quality documentation, and pilot build assessment/findings list.
- Investigate root cause of reported manufacturing flaws, coordinate containment, and provide feedback on process or design improvements for corrective/preventative actions.
- Occasionally utilize Solidworks to update/modify existing engineering files and complete the relevant Quality related documentation necessary to capture the change. Must have model based working knowledge with Solidworks.
- Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives on the manufacturing process to drive improvements to quality, costs, or yield.
- Perform calibration and qualification of new instruments arriving at Emulate. Review and coordinate the effort to transfer this process to the external manufacturing partners.
- Develop manufacturing processes to ensure products are built to high standards of quality
- Provide product technical expertise and support to suppliers.
- Create SOPs as needed to capture new processes related to manufacturing.
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in product design and 3 years in manufacturing in a formal product lifecycle from concept through production release.
- 5+ years in SolidWorks
- Experience in pneumatic and microfluidic systems is preferred.
- Strong mechanical engineering background with thorough knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and materials. BSME or equivalent required.
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skill to manage projects and lead a cross functional team.
- Proficient in mechanical design and documentation knowledge of GD&T, using SolidWorks is required.
- Ability to interpret engineering and production drawings.
- Ability to plan perform risk assessment and mitigation strategies for new product development.
- Ability to conduct failure investigations to support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with mechanical/pneumatic systems.
- Experienced in prioritizing and coordinate multiple projects and activities.
- Experienced in working with suppliers to ensure product quality, costs, process improvements.
- Able to communicate clearly both in oral and presentation.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with DFx
