We are looking for a Senior Motion Designer/Animator who is a conceptual thinker, storyteller, and detail-oriented animator who can bring digital marketing ideas to life in compelling ways. Their passion for animation and critical thinking will help simplify challenging design problems to continue defining the motion guidelines for our brand and our social marketing channels.

As a Senior Motion Designer/Animator at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing. The DigitalOcean Digital Experience (DODX) team’s goal is to deliver delightful digital customer experiences across our digital touchpoints. As a motion designer/animator, reporting to the Creative Director, your role will be to create animated deliverables that help grow and support the DO brand while enabling our prospects and customers to engage with our products and services in meaningful ways.

As a member of our team, you will work closely in an efficient and expeditious environment. You will help lead the charge in defining and implementing what our brand looks and feels like through motion, working with other designers, developers, and stakeholders to create thoughtful solutions to the problems presented to you. You will always be ready to talk to users, ask questions, and explain how you came to a solution when called on.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Develop DigitalOcean’s motion design guidelines for animated assets on social media platforms and other touchpoints to help drive brand awareness
  • Produce strong conceptual and expressive animations that are engaging and reflect a cohesive brand experience rooted in strong conceptual motion principles
  • Partner with social media marketers to create a motion design across various content pillars to drive social marketing channel goals
  • Ideate, storyboard, and generate new concepts quickly based on social media and industry best practices, stakeholder direction, and self-driven research
  • Collaborate with our creative team, developer content team, developer relations and social media team, and other brand stakeholders to produce high-quality content for mass consumption
  • Design and animate elements for product videos, brand campaigns, and event content
  • Utilize software such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Cinema 4D to create stunning motion graphics and incorporate these into final videos in a range of formats
  • Ensure all work is completed within deadlines and to the highest standard
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design and animation trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Maintain and organize project files, assets, and resources
  • Generate ideas, inspire stakeholders, and exchange data-driven or qualitative feedback.
    Meet multiple deadlines, prioritize work, and keep projects moving forward in a ticketing system.

Key Metrics:

  • Working across website experimentation metrics including the following:
  • Acquisition metrics (UVEC's and Completed signups)
  • New customer revenue (engaged signups, billables)
  • NDR (expansion campaigns)
  • AI/ML signups
  • Causality (experimentation platform - A/B/n testing)
  • Social metrics including impressions, engagements, clicks, & views.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of motion graphics and animation work for social campaigns, brand campaigns, product videos, and event content

  • Experience with storytelling to deliver a narrative effect using motion

  • Ability to lead and manage animation workflows, ensuring timely delivery while
    maintaining a high standard of quality, often under tight deadlines
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related
    to animation and file-related concerns
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to continuously improving the animation process
    and ensuring all outputs meet brand and company standards

  • We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000  based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
