Title: Senior Technical Writer – API Documentation

 

THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated API documentation expert to join our UX Content team to develop high-quality developer documentation.

In this role, you'll work closely with developers, product managers and architects to research and document high-impact API content for our digital trust products.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Create and maintain API & SDK documentation, and other related development materials.
  • Keep the API documentation up to date with the latest API releases, changes, and improvements.
  • Establish API documentation standards and templates.
  • Champion best practices and coach developers on API documentation standards.
  • Organize and structure the API documentation to provide easy navigation and findability for developers and users.
  • Manage complex API documentation projects, including driving documentation project planning with engineering and product teams, with a focus on maintaining high standards for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Develop and maintain code samples and use cases that demonstrate the proper integration and usage of APIs.
  • Actively engage with developers and support to gather feedback on API documentation and incorporate improvements based on user needs.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, demanding environment with competing deadlines.
  • Use data analytics and customer insights to monitor the content performance and to drive content improvements.

 

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE

  • 7+ years of experience as a technical writer, with a focus on API documentation.
  • Prior experience working with software engineers, architects, and developers.
  • Experience with API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, or similar.
  • Experience creating clear, accurate, and accessible API documentation for a technical audience.
  • Advocate for developer-friendly APIs by suggesting improvements in API naming, versioning, error handling, and response formats.
  • Experience with Agile project management and source control tools, such as Jira and GitLab.
  • Proven expertise in working with authoring tools and content management systems to manage and publish content.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of the content development lifecycle, including identifying and understanding the content needs of the audience, gathering information, interviewing SMEs, and testing the product.
  • Experience in coding a plus.
