About the Position
Dexis is seeking an experienced Conflict Integration Advisor to support USAID’s Northern Economic and Livelihoods for Youth (NELY) activity based in Benin. This is a five-year project aimed at improving purchasing powers, developing self-sufficiency, and improving inclusion in the modern economic marketplace for men and women vulnerable to recruitment by violent extremist groups.
This is a part-time position (50%) contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
- Support the assessment of conflict scenarios and specificities in NELY geographies.
- Monitor, assess, and analyze social, political, and/or political events that are likely to have an impact on Northern Benin.
- Serve as an expert advisor to the Dexis NELY team, including the team and relevant stakeholder’s ability to understand, communicate, and interpret conflict.
- In coordination with the Deputy Chief of Party and key program staff, ensure vision and associated activities is conflict-sensitive, appropriate, and adapting to contextual shifts.
- Design and implement strategies for engaging women, youth, and other marginalized communities in all activities and messaging.
- Lead and facilitate trainings and associated activities.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with local government and non-government stakeholders, especially in support of ongoing program activities, and provide advice on issues related to political conflict and security;
- Work with program staff to identify conflict mitigation actors and agents of change, ensuring that key groups, such as peace committees, local officials, women, and youth are actively participating in dialogues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in political science, peace and conflict studies, international relations, international development, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in peacebuilding, conflict mitigation, and international program management.
- Previous experience working with relevant stakeholders across Norther Benin.
- Experience implementing programs with a focus on youth.
- Demonstrated experience developing and conducting relevant trainings.
- Strong facilitation and consensus-building skills.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills.
- Prior experience working in Benin.
- Fluency in French.
