About the role

As part of the People Technology and Analytics team, the Principal Application Engineer will participate in project work, operational work, and enhancements, and support scaling Crunchyroll’s people systems to meet its  expanding business needs. An ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Workday (particularly HCM, Payroll, Integrations, reporting and security) and exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

This role will allow you to apply your Workday and general systems knowledge to Crunchyroll’s people systems. You will provide technical expertise in people systems, including configuration, administration and roadmapping. You will work closely with your own team, peers and the Business teams, to collaborate on creative solutions for technical challenges, provide input on the People Systems roadmap and provide direct impact to our business partners. You will interact frequently with senior management and must become a trusted thought-leader to our extended business partners.

In the role of Principal Application Engineer, you will report to the Sr Director, People Experience Technology & Analytics.

About the Job:

Business area,  System Design and Implementation: 

Design and implement system changes to align with business needs, managing the setup and data elements of foundational structures in Workday. Extensive knowledge understanding the system life cycles and possess a mix of HR system and process knowledge to interpret business requirements into technical solutions. Manage the lifecycle of features, from inceptions to implementation, throughout production until retirement/upgrade.

  • Hands-on on Workday HCM configuration and Integration work. This role is 100% hands-on in the Workday system and integrations. Subject Matter Expertise and Product management: Serve as a subject matter expert in Workday, emphasizing proficiency in HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Compensation, Absence, and Benefits. Provide consultative practical solutions with business process, design, configuration, and testing. Proactively offering options, risks, and downstream impacts related to decisions.
  • Experience working with Analytics platforms like Workday People Analytics or Workday Prism Analytics.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business units to build strong relationships, ensuring alignment between Workday capabilities and business goals. Act as a trusted advisor to the stakeholders to influence the technology decisions.
  • Reporting and Dashboards: Develop custom reports and dashboards tailored to the specific needs of business units, enhancing data-driven decision-making.
  • Training and Documentation: Provide training and assistance to People support staff, creating and updating documentation and communications to ensure clarity and consistency. Mentor junior peers and offer shadowing opportunities.
  • Release Management: Review functionality delivered in Workday releases to assess business impacts and identify opportunities for enhancements.
  • Coordination with PMO: Work with the PMO team in formulating the project plan keeping in view the existing capability , Workday feasibility, and complexity around timing and other ongoing initiatives.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain accountability for data integrity, focusing on quality, accuracy, reporting, timeliness, and usability across core systems and related interfaces.
  • Integration Security: Demonstrate expertise in security configurations, concepts of Data encryption including PGP / SSH key management, OAuth, Manage Authentications.
  • Workday Access: Maintain accountability for securing the access to Crunchyroll workday tenants  

About You

  • You have 12+ years of Workday configuration and Integration hands-on experience with a specialized focus in HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Compensation, Absence, and Benefits
  • You have implemented both HCM and Payroll functionality.
  • You have experience with International payroll
  • You have experience with Workday security and managing access for partners.
  • You have 6+ years of experience building Workday Integrations with Workday Studio, EIB, and Core Connectors
  • You have in-depth experience with other SaaS-based HRIS products like recruiting, and a general familiarity with the HR technology landscape
  •  You have in-depth working knowledge of foundational topics in Human Capital as well as best practice concepts
  • You have an obsession for high performance and a passion for supporting the attainment of the business strategy through technology
  • You have familiarity with strategic human capital management planning processes, showing aptitude to build well sequenced and integrated execution plans that accelerate HR outcomes
  • You have a successful professional track record and leadership trajectory in varied areas of human capital technology in a global environment
  • You have a proven ability to design, coordinate and project-manage complex cross-functional initiatives given multiple competing priorities or perspectives
  • You have experience leading and implementing large transformational initiatives
  • You have an understanding of data privacy practices and SOX controls
