About the Role:
This is a remote role based in the US.
Couchbase is looking to hire an experienced Senior Manager, Global Accounts Payable to join their accounting team. This role will provide strong leadership over the offshore accounts payable team in their day-to-day global operations. The ideal candidate will be a Coupa and Navan (formerly known as TripActions) expert and a key player in leading a world class global accounts payable department that can efficiently scale with Couchbase’s growing business. This involves leading deliverables, driving process efficiencies by automation, ensuring compliance with SLAs, partnering with key collaborators, and improving and nurturing a team focus on prompt and effective customer service.
This position will be required to have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of a modern accounts payable function including finding opportunities to implement standard methodologies and ensure continuous improvement at the Company. This role requires treating sensitive information with discretion, acting as a role model for ethical behavior, and to be an advocate of and follow Company policies. It requires excellent people, communication and writing skills; be able to collaborate across various business units, regions, and be self-motivated.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management and execution of global accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and payments.
- Maintain systems, procedures, controls, and policies for the accounts payable function to ensure efficient company operations.
- Ensure purchase orders are accurately coded and matched to invoices and all invoices are appropriately approved before authorizing payments.
- Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information as it relates to accounts payable; address any aging issues and unapproved invoices; ensure accuracy of accounts payable related items in the financial statements.
- Provide assistance as needed related to accounts payable and vendor payments; respond to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.
- Review all accounts payable related monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Oversee global expense reimbursement and procurement card administration and operations including expense processing, review, and payment.
- Analyze expense data to identify trends for vendor payments and expense transactions.
- Assist with quarterly/annual PBC requests and inquiries from auditors related to accounts payable.
- Manage and optimize systems (Coupa and Navan) for day-to-day procedures, ensuring seamless operations.
- Lead efforts to improve operational efficiencies, streamline processes, and implement scalable solutions.
- Generate insightful metrics that monitor performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making.
- Direct team members to meet key metrics such as on-time and accurate invoice processing, invoice payments, and on-time completion of tasks.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in global accounts payable operations with a proven track record of managing teams and overseeing day-to-day operations.
- A strong understanding of systems (Coupa and Navan) with the ability to problem-solve in ambiguous and dynamic environments.
- Solid working knowledge of internal controls.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
