As an Associate Product Manager, you'll put your name to building, transforming, and solving fascinating challenges at scale. You'll take ownership of the critical intersection between our WordPress CMS and front-end user experience. You will leverage your deep expertise in Product Management and passion for the craft to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality, setting the stage for our content-driven company's success.

Your expertise will be the cornerstone of our digital ecosystem, shaping the human systems thinking that underpins our website development. By empowering our teams with the right tools and workflows, you'll unlock the full potential of our users, driving innovation that propels us ahead of the competition.

Collaborating closely with our Design and Engineering partners, you'll spearhead the creation of groundbreaking site functionality. Your data-driven approach, in tandem with our audience growth team, will fuel SEO product improvements that enhance user experiences and drive engagement.

This role will work alongside three Product Manager colleagues under the leadership of the Senior Director of Product, Will Evans. You’ll be able to own entire product verticals and feature development lifecycles from start to finish. You’ll also have room for both upward and lateral career growth opportunities as you achieve company goals and demonstrate your impact.

The salary for this role ranges from $110,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location, and has bonus opportunities based on execution of the company’s roadmap.

 

WHAT YOU’LL TACKLE

  • Reimagined User Experience: Drive incremental revenue and site visitors through the delivery of new site experiences, monetization concepts, and user journey pathways by which millions of users each month discover our content and advice. 
  • Site Performance: Optimize the site to meet the web’s highest standards and ensure we’re serving the highest quality UX to our users. Deliver new analytics capabilities and utilize them to uncover outsized growth opportunities.
  • Tech Innovation: Leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to introduce and scale impactful new products & tool functionality.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Deliver High-Quality Products: Develop new internal CMS and site product features by writing and defining user stories with clear acceptance criteria, ensuring that all requirements are well- understood by stakeholders, users, and the development team. Validate assumptions through data analysis, user research, and stakeholder input.
  • Take Charge in Squad Execution: Manage cross-functional teams, including Design, Development, QA, Operations, and Business stakeholders, to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products. Foster a culture of collaboration, open communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Expertise: Collaborate with the development team to ensure that product features are technically feasible, scalable, and align with the company's technology roadmap. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform product decisions.
  • Prioritize and Manage Backlog: Build, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, focusing on delivering high-impact features that meet customer needs and business objectives. Ensure that the backlog is regularly reviewed and refined to reflect changing priorities and customer feedback.
  • Customer-Centric: Develop a deep understanding of our customers, their pain points, and motivations. Use data analysis, user research, and market trends to inform product decisions and ensure that solutions meet customer needs.
  • Workflow Management: Create and maintain technical workflows and user flow diagrams to visualize the product development process from ideation to post-launch while taking the time to learn how to connect the dots from end to end of the business. Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data and analytics to inform product decisions, measure product success, and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with the analytics team to develop metrics and KPIs that align with business objectives.
  • Agile Methodologies: Apply Agile principles and methodologies to ensure iterative and incremental delivery of product features. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, retrospectives, and feedback loops.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

2+ years as digital product manager/owner for high volume consumer-facing sites for tech or media/advertising companies including:

  • Site experimentation
  • Working directly with WordPress (similar CMS may be considered)
  • Using data to make product decisions
  • Writing requirements/user stories, creating mockups and user flow diagrams, user research, and competitive analysis
  • Agile principles and best practices, facilitating sprint planning, backlog grooming, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver iterative product enhancements.

Demonstrated history of strong skills with:

  • Metrics and data, especially concepts such as Statistical Significance and AB Testing
  • Verbal and written communication, delivers technical information succinctly and assertively to non-technical audiences
  • Complex problem-solving, critical thinking, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
