We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Data Science to lead our data science initiatives at GOBankingRates. This role is pivotal in driving innovation through automation and machine learning applications that enhance our services for customers and consumers. You will leverage your strong background in data science, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business impact.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Recruit, develop, mentor and lead teams of data scientists to innovate automation and machine learning applications to serve our customers and consumers
  • Design and lead Data Modeling practices and framework. Develop and implement complex models to make financial and business decisions.
  • Own the entire Data Science strategy across GOBankingRates to prioritize opportunities that have the highest impact on company goals.
  • Recruit, develop, retain and lead teams of data scientists to develop new machine learning applications to serve our customers and consumers.
  • Continue to evolve and expand the EYE Platform to improve and scale methodologies for digital ad conversion and performance across company KPIs
  • Translate analytical insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement, and communicate your research and insights to all levels of the company clearly and concisely inline with our  business model capabilities and priorities.
  • Drive scalable solutions using available AWS infrastructure.
  • Create and track accuracy and performance metrics (both technical and business metrics).
  • Create, enhance, and maintain technical documentation, and present it to other scientists, engineers, and business leaders.
  • Drive best practices on the team; mentor and guide junior members to achieve their career growth potential and instill a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.
  • Understand the business priorities and goals to best leverage Data Science capabilities to make a positive impact.
  • Champion Data Science and ML automation across the organization through training, presentations and leading groups to embrace opportunities to impact our business.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You  will  bring a wealth of experience in data science, proven leadership skills in building and managing high-performing teams, expertise in machine learning and digital marketing, and a strong track record of driving business impact through data-driven strategies and innovative solutions. Additionally some of your strengths will include::

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline is required
  • 5+ years proven track record of leading high-performing teams leading through successful performance of advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modeling that positively impact business performance.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) roles, including designing, developing, and deploying data-driven solutions.
  • A growth mindset and a passion for staying updated with the latest developments in AI/ML and Generative AI
  • Experience working in the digital media marketing industry. Proven ability to develop innovative methodologies to enhance digital advertising metrics such as conversion rates, ad pacing, and ROI.
  • Adept at refining existing processes with new data inputs and model improvements to boost ML model effectiveness.
  • Proficient in translating data analytics into tangible business enhancements, with excellent communication skills to relay findings at all company levels.
  • Drive scalable solutions using available AWS infrastructure.
  • Capability to construct and maintain precise performance indicators (both technical and business) and documentation, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • A history of nurturing a culture of collective ownership and achievement, with a commitment to mentoring and professional development

 

The salary range for this role is $240,000 - $290,000 + Bonus. Pay offered may vary within the posted range based on a number of factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
