Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?
At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.
Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.
Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) is building the developer tools to bring the world onchain.
Today, onchain development is slow, risky, and painful, even for the most experienced onchain developers. Our goal is to bring a million developers onchain by creating an easy to use and trusted developer experience. We build API and SDK products for developers like wallets, paymaster, staking, stablecoins, onchain data, and more.
We are a small team that moves like a startup at Coinbase, with a fast pace, strong ownership culture, and a relentless commitment to making developers happy.
We are looking for a strong Technical Writer to pioneer best-in-class documentation across our Coinbase suite of developer products in order to establish us as the leading Web3 developer platform, paving the way for 1M+ developers coming onchain.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Document new products, features, and APIs
- Create quickstart guides, including content that showcases how to use multiple products in our suite of developer tools together to enable common use cases
- Document standards, guidelines, and best practices for other teams to follow
- Improve content quality across core documentation to drive activation and usage through curation and content performance analysis
- Push Coinbase and the industry forward by dreaming up and implementing new ways to deliver, author, analyze, and interact with technical content
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- 4+ years of Technical Writing experience
- An owner mindset with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to come up to speed quickly on new product areas and write great documentation for new and intermediate developers
- Ability to identify content gaps and opportunities across our suite of products to drive adoption and engagement
- Adept at communicating technical concepts clearly and precisely, without jargon
- A background in software development and comfortable working with Ruby, Go, Typescript, Node, Java, or Next.js.
- Experience writing about frontend and backend languages, and ideally also onchain languages (eg: Solidity)
Nice to haves:
- Experience contributing to an onchain community or project
- 2+ years of onchain experience, with a deep understanding of Ethereum and onchain communities
- Experience creating automated documentation tools
- Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
