About us

Climate X is a purpose-driven technology company, backed by GV (Google Ventures), Western Technologies (early investors in Meta, Google, Palantir), Commerz Ventures, Pale Blue Dot, Deloitte, and other world-class investors. We’re a wonderfully diverse, growing team with physical offices in London and New York City.

Demand for Climate X is growing fast, and we need to build our team! You’ll be at the front of a nascent industry, working as part of a fantastic and diverse team, doing things that you can be proud of. We’re excited to have the opportunity to speak with you during this process.

Our mission

To deepen the understanding of our changing planet and inspire meaningful action.

What we do

  • We’re helping the world become more resilient to the impacts of physical climate risks (including floods, fires, storms and more). In doing so, we help drive positive global impact aligned to many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
  • Our team builds cutting-edge, peer-reviewed science (incorporating climate projections, remote sensing data) and translates that into financial impacts (to the value of assets or business disruption linked to failure of critical infrastructure) that our customers in the financial services industry use to identify, manage and mitigate those risks.
  • Climate X’s customers include the world’s largest banks, asset managers and insurance companies including CBRE, Standard Chartered, Virgin Money and Federated Hermes, as well as a partnership ecosystem that includes Deloitte, Capgemini and AWS. Combined, they manage over $6.5 trillion of assets.
  • Customers choose us thanks to our ecosystem of products that help solve real human problems and drive tangible business benefits. They love our customer-centric mindset, as well as our pace of innovation in the market.

THE IMPACT YOU’LL OWN

As the Lead Machine Learning Engineer on the Carta team, you will be instrumental in architecting and delivering the evolution of our asset mapping capabilities. Reporting to the VP of Product and Engineering, your primary focus will be on leveraging advanced ML and GenAI techniques to significantly enhance the accuracy, speed, and coverage of our existing pipelines.

You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Science teams to ensure ML initiatives directly address critical business needs and improve our core Carta product offering.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of key ML initiatives for Carta, focusing on enhancing asset and company data accuracy, speed, and coverage through advanced NLP and GenAI techniques – from research and development through to production, monitoring, and retraining.
  • Lead on technical direction for Carta's ML components, helping the team make the right choices on GenAI model application, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, tooling, infrastructure, and processes.
  • Shape and refine our approach to NLP and LLM development for information extraction, validation, and enrichment, including the potential fine-tuning of LLMs on domain-specific data to improve Carta's outputs.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to align Carta ML initiatives with product goals and business outcomes, ensuring your work directly contributes to solving core customer problems.
  • Mentor, coach, and support the development of team members working on Carta's ML aspects; this includes providing regular technical and performance feedback, guiding their career development in partnership with the VP, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
  • Ensure our Carta ML pipelines are scalable, reproducible, and well-documented, working with engineering to establish robust MLOps practices for these specific systems.
  • Act as the go-to expert for ML problem-solving within the Carta context, helping team members navigate complex challenges in data extraction and validation.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation for Carta's ML, where the team can test new approaches and learn quickly to improve asset mapping capabilities.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
