CRA's European Competition practice specialises in providing economic advice on matters of competition policy and regulation.  We assist firms and their legal advisors in all types of competition proceedings: firms considering merger and acquisition opportunities or involved in merger control proceedings; and firms undergoing investigations relating to cartels, restrictive commercial agreements, abuse of dominance or state aid.  We also provide advice to firms involved in regulatory proceedings and sector inquiries.  We offer assistance on the estimation effects of damages in cartel cases, international arbitration and intellectual property disputes.

Position Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting economists at the Associate Principal and Principal level for our Brussels office. We are interested in hearing from Masters, PhD candidates as well as experienced Consultants who have prior consulting and competition policy experience.

Candidates, will be expected to rapidly take on genuine responsibility, assisting Vice Presidents and other senior staff by providing conceptual and practical input to competition case work as required. The role brings with it the possibility of working on some of the largest and most significant competition cases in Europe, playing a key role in the shaping of the cases.

Desired Qualifications

  • Candidates for these positions must have a good first degree in economics and a postgraduate qualification (MSc/MPhil or PhD/DPhil) in economics from well-regarded institutions.
  • They should have a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialisation in industrial organization and/or statistics/econometrics, and be able to demonstrate the personal qualities that make a successful consultant.
  • Senior candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to manage more junior colleagues and to have extensive client contact at an early stage.
  • Fluency in French, German and/or Dutch is an asset
