What You Will Be Doing

Being a leading EV charging network, we have a lot of data that is used to enhance end-user experience, optimize network operations and placement of charging stations, and improve internal operations, NPI, field and manufacturing processes. This is just the beginning, and we see a huge opportunity to leverage data to predict failures before they happen, build delightful products and enable the electrification of all forms of transportation.

A data science manager in this role will work with several departments across the company (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Support) to identify use cases/scenarios for optimization, use data lake to enable efficient querying and analytics, and use data science and ML to analyze the data and build data solutions.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Build a fundamental understanding of data analytics, science and ML with ChargePoint Data.
  • Build and lead data science team 
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Provide thought leadership, perform business analysis, and support execution of high-impact strategic projects and mission-critical initiatives.
  • Be an evangelist for data analysis and data-oriented decision making
  • Stay up to date with the constantly evolving data analysis landscape and industry best practices including generative AI
  • Work with key leaders on critical strategic, organizational, and operational projects designed to increase revenue, sales productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Apply proven expertise in identifying business opportunities and executing on them
  • Develop statistical & machine learning models for predicting & forecasting business metrics. ​
  • Apply quantitative analysis, data mining & presentation to see beyond the numbers & understand EV charging reliability. ​
  • Work with EV charging telemetry data at scale to provide insight on the reliability of ChargePoint products. ​
  • Support building a scalable full-stack data pipeline to aggregate telemetry & service data to monitor systems health in the field. ​
  • Design/develop new systems/methods in partnership with SW engineers to enable quick & easy consumption of data.​
  • Work cross-functionally to write a physics of failure model and build a scalable data pipeline to aggregate usage, environmental conditions and stresses on the EV charging systems across the fleet. 
  • Securely source external data from numerous partners.
  • Deploy inclusive data quality checks to ensure high quality of data.
  • Collect data through means such as analyzing business results or by setting up and managing new studies
  • Correlating similar data to find actionable results.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant Data Science experience in data analysis, statistical analysis, data modeling & ML 
    • Fundamental understanding of Python, R, SQL, RDBMS, NoSQL databases and big data solutions
    • Familiarity with basic statistical techniques for prediction and optimization
  • 5+ years of managing a Data Science Team
  • 3+ years of experience with data viz and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, MS Power BI, etc.)
    • Strong dashboarding and presentation skills
    • Familiarity and experience with at least one programming language
  • Strong competency in problem solving, analysis & project management. 
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, fast-growing, and results-driven environment that demands consistent and enduring excellence. 
    • Ability to identify issues and develop and implement solutions to meet department and company goals. 
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with complex and demanding deadlines.
    • Ability to work with ambiguity and create quick PoCs
  • Self-starter; strong drive, bias-to-action, commitment and work ethic; willingness to take on big challenges and own the results from brainstorm to execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Able to influence others effectively.

Preferred

    • PhD or Masters in Computer Science/Statistics or related fields.
    • Experience with distributed data processing technologies (Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
    • Familiarity with cloud computing and data ecosystem in AWS
    • Designing and implementing real-time pipelines.
    • Experience with data at scale technologies such as Hadoop/hive/presto/beam.
    • Experience with prognostics and health management.
    • Working knowledge of mathematical or advanced machine learning concepts
