Calico is looking for an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Cellular Phenotyping (CP) team. The CP group uses scalable, information-rich methods to catalog and interpret the phenotypic effects of chemical and genetic perturbations to age-related processes and diseases. The selected candidate will design and utilize innovative approaches to study the phenotypic trajectory of differentiating hematopoietic stem cells using live-cell imaging and single-cell genomics. This work offers a unique opportunity for cross-functional collaboration with experts from across Calico in immunology, high-content imaging, and machine learning. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a record of achievement in cell biology or immunology and should be comfortable working on complex problems both independently and as a member of a team.
Responsibilities:
Contrast the trajectories of hematopoietic stem cell differentiation observed by live-cell imaging with those inferred from single-cell RNAseq
Present findings internally and externally at conferences
Prepare manuscripts for publication
Position Requirements:
PhD in cell biology, immunology, or related field
Experience with mammalian cell culture, confocal microscopy, live cell imaging, and/or high-content imaging platforms
Enthusiastic and organized team player with attention to detail and excellent verbal/written communication skills
Strong record of research productivity with impactful scientific publications
Must be willing to work onsite at least four days per week
Nice to have:
Knowledge of immunology with experience in primary immune cell culture
Hands-on experience with cell biology techniques including multiplexed IF, flow cytometry, FISH, and/or scRNAseq
Experience with quantitative image analysis and basic machine learning principles
Competency with Python or R is a plus
The estimated base salary for this role is $95,000.
