Position Overview  

The VP, Group Copy Supervisor is a senior-level creative department position responsible for providing direct support to the Creative Director, particularly in the areas of creative presentation, client relations, cross-department idea generation, and team creative oversight. The group copy supervisor must possess superior conceptual skills, knowledge of pharmaceutical requirements/terminology, and great copywriting and conceptual skills. This position reports to the Creative Director.

Specific Responsibilities:

•    Writes copy, concepts, and campaigns 
•    Supervises all promotional copy, concepts, and campaigns across all brands
•    Work extremely closely with the Medical Department to maintain the highest level of scientific accuracy in development of promotional work
•    Raise creative consciousness of agency through internal presentations and leadership
•    Keep all work consistent and on brand guidelines and strategy
•    Contribute to strategic and tactical planning
•    Key client contact for applicable brands
•    Establish credibility with clients at all levels through advanced thinking and clear communication
•    Helps establish and maintain the highest possible standards of reproduction for all digital, print, audio/visual and collateral materials produced by the agency
•    Provides direction and guidance to department subordinates
•    Informs and advises the Creative Director on the status of departmental affairs
•    Encourages the professional development of department staff
•    Consults with the Creative Director, as well as account service, traffic and other agency team members as necessary to achieve agency objectives
•    Help to identify and eliminate factors creating a crisis, and minimize recurrence
•    Meets established deadlines or provides reasonable notice to the Creative Director of special circumstances requiring deadline extension
•    Maintains a current list of available freelance writers
•    Consults with Creative Director and agency services manager regarding staffing needs
•    Engage in personal development necessary to stay current in advertising
•    Researches to become more familiar with clients’ businesses

Preferred Qualifications:

•    A bachelor's degree in a relevant area preferred
•    6-8 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment in pharma advertising 
•    Presents a strong portfolio demonstrating superior conceptual and copywriting ability
•    Fantastic presentation and communication skills
•    Excellent supervisory, management, judgment, and decision-making skills
•    Excellent copywriting and conceptual skills
•    Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills
•    Proven ability to multitask, handle stressful situations, and deadline pressures
•    Understanding of Adobe Creative Suite. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•    Ability to prioritize workflow and redirect agency projects to meet competing and changing deadlines

Salary Range: $150,000-$170,000 

The salary range provided is for the NYC-hybrid position, which requires occasional in-office presence, and represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGB. For candidates in other locations, salary will be adjusted to reflect local market rates. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit, including experience (both direct and indirect), education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGB Group.
