The Director of Business Applications is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, design, implementation, and optimization of business applications that support key organizational functions. This role requires a strategic visionary who can align technology solutions with business objectives, drive digital transformation, and ensure robust support and maintenance of application systems. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, low/no-code platform experience, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of business processes to create seamless, efficient, and impactful applications that improve overall business operations. 

This position can be remote PST or in our San Diego office.

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and lead the business applications strategy to align with organizational goals and objectives, prioritizing investments in technology that drive business value and operational excellence. 
  • Application Management: Oversee the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of business applications, including ERP, CRM, low/no-code platforms, and other enterprise systems. 
  • Low/No-Code Platform Integration: Lead the selection, implementation, and adoption of low/no-code platforms to empower business units to create custom applications, streamline processes, and accelerate solution delivery. 
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build and manage a high-performing team of application developers, administrators, analysts, and project managers; foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. 
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact with software vendors and third-party service providers; manage vendor relationships, contracts, and ensure SLAs are met. 
  • Project Management: Lead cross-functional projects from ideation to deployment; ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired specifications. 
  • Process Optimization: Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency within business units. 
  • Data Integrity & Security: Ensure that all applications are compliant with company security policies and data governance standards. 
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for business applications; ensure spending aligns with department and organizational financial goals. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in business applications management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Low/No-Code Proficiency: Experience with low/no-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform, Mendix, OutSystems) and a demonstrated ability to drive citizen development initiatives. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with enterprise-level applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, HRIS) and familiarity with cloud-based solutions and SaaS platforms. 
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of building and managing successful teams, with strong skills in coaching, mentorship, and conflict resolution. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Project Management: Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with cross-functional stakeholders; PMP certification is a plus. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 
  • AI/ML: Professional experience with AI and/or Machine Learning is strongly preferred

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to an annual salary of $200,000 to $250,000.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
