The Director of Public Relations and Brand will ideally be based out of our Minneapolis location will be responsible for building and managing Anaplan’s public image, brand voice in the public sphere, and media presence. This strategic role will drive the company’s PR and brand strategy, ensuring consistent, compelling storytelling across earned and owned channels.  You will oversee media relations, PR content creation, and brand thought leadership to enhance brand awareness, reputation, and engagement in key markets globally.  Additionally, you will manage all external PR agencies and strategic media partnerships. 

Your Impact

  • Strategic PR Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies, plans, and campaigns aligned with business goals, ensuring consistent messaging across all media channels.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers in the tech, SaaS, and business industries. Secure media coverage through proactive outreach, pitches, and press releases.
  • Agency Management: Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with PR agency(s) and media partners, guiding the development of a strategic plan with metrics, and subsequent execution.
    Brand Messaging: Work with other marketing leaders on key PR messaging and communication strategies that reflect the company’s values, vision, and aspirations.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure alignment of messaging across all external communications and channels including PR (press releases, articles, and presentations), and all corporate communications to maintain a strong and cohesive brand identity. Coordinate organic social media to elevate Anaplan’s thought leadership, highlight our brand and ensure social content aligns with key brand campaigns, industry thought leadership, and strategic GTM marketing priorities.
  • Thought Leadership: Position the company and executive team as thought leaders in the SaaS industry. Secure speaking engagements, guest articles, and interviews in relevant trade publications and events.
  • Content Development: Oversee the creation of high-quality content for press materials, blogs, media kits, and social channels. Collaborate with marketing and content teams to ensure alignment with overall marketing strategy.
  • Performance Metrics: Track and analyze the success of PR campaigns and media coverage. Use insights to refine strategies, demonstrate ROI, and report on PR effectiveness to senior leadership. Monitor brand sentiment and social engagement, leveraging insights to optimize content and engagement strategies.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product, corporate HR communications and executive teams to ensure alignment and integrate PR efforts with broader business strategies.  Ensure tight alignment with internal communications, to ensure employees are brand advocates across the company. 

Your Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in public relations, with a strong background in SaaS, technology, or B2B industries.
  • Proven track record of successful PR and brand campaigns, as well as media placements at both regional and national levels.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS industry trends, the competitive landscape, and how to communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience.
  • Preferred strong network of media contacts, influencers, and industry experts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
  • Ability to think strategically, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire peers.
  • Familiarity with PR tools and media monitoring software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Brand, Communications, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in executive communication and media training.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and how PR integrates with SEO, social media, and content marketing.
  • Strong public speaking skills and comfort with media interviews and presentations.
  • Exceptional writing skills
