IT Systems Administrator
Overview: We are seeking a motivated and methodical IT Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology (IT) team. The ideal candidate will assist senior engineers in managing and maintaining our organization’s on-premises- and cloud-based systems, networks, end-user computers, business applications, and help desk services. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of our IT environment. The position reports to the Associate Director, IT Infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network devices, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Regularly monitor system performance metrics and proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain optimal system functionality and uptime.
- Implement backup technologies and processes for backend systems. Ensure regular backups are performed and verify their integrity. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to backup failures or data recovery, ensuring data availability and protection.
- Configure and oversee daily backup operations for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) lab computer systems. Monitor backup processes to ensure successful completion and address any issues promptly. Maintain backup records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data integrity and availability.
- Create, maintain, and update the standard computer image(s) used across the company. Ensure the image(s) includes all necessary software, configurations, and security settings. Deploy the image to new and existing systems, ensuring consistency and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement security patches and updates across all systems. Continuously monitor for security vulnerabilities and threats and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security best practices and emerging threats.
- Administer and support the company's printing infrastructure, including printers, print servers, and related software. Ensure reliable and efficient printing services for all users. Troubleshoot and resolve printing issues and manage printer supplies and maintenance.
- Oversee the creation, management, and deactivation of user accounts for various business applications. Ensure proper licensing and compliance with software agreements. Provide support for user access issues and maintain accurate records of licenses and user permissions.
- Administer and support Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams. Perform troubleshooting to ensure seamless operation and user satisfaction.
- Manage and support Azure Entra ID services. Ensure proper configuration, user access, and security settings. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to identity and access management.
- Collaborate with Help Desk technicians to address and resolve technical issues reported by end-users. Provide guidance and support for hardware, software, and network-related problems. Ensure timely and effective resolutions to minimize downtime and enhance user productivity.
- Be available for on-call support to address urgent issues affecting production systems. Respond promptly to incidents and work diligently to restore system functionality. Maintain an elevated level of readiness to ensure business continuity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent 5+ years work experience.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
- Proven experience in Microsoft server administration, including Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, C++).
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards in Microsoft environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with GXP, SOX, GDPR and/or HIPAA systems is a plus.
