The Role

In the Core Platform Operations team, (“CPO”), we are responsible for global platform and cloud operations across all core Addepar environments, in all regions, with 24 x 7 x 365 coverage. The mission of the CPO team is to provide Reliable, Resilient, Recoverable, and Repeatable (“4R’s”) infrastructure and platform environments.

We are seeking a Head of CPO who is skilled in strategic problem-solving and has a successful history of building impactful teams in SRE, Production Engineering, and Operations.

As the global leader of the CPO team, you will bring your expertise to drive key, strategic infrastructure programs that unlock velocity and mitigate operational risk. You'll work closely with your team and Engineering leaders to find opportunities to drive scale through automation, single-pane-of-glass control systems and champion a strong security posture. This position requires a strong people leader with a track record of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.

The current range for this role is $211,000 - $330,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

What You’ll Do

  • Transform Addepar’s CPO function, defining a strategic vision, structure, and critical initiatives to drive global scale for Addepar’s infrastructure operations.
  • Partner with existing Engineering and Operations teams, as well as senior leadership, to create, and gain agreement for your strategy.
  • Develop a culture of innovation with your Production Engineering team, by developing automation and tooling to improve our 4R’s measurements.
  • Provide strategic direction for operations teams, focusing their time on high priority, high value issues and incidents, and aligning them with Addepar’s goals
  • Provide frameworks, process and tooling communicate service reliability, performance and superior customer experience metrics to technology and business leadership, such as Service Level Objectives (SLO) and mean time to identification (MTTI), mean time to resolution (MTTR), and mean time to failure (MTTF),
  • Maintain standards and targets for resource utilization, scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness
  • Focus on automation, in the context of self-healing, auto-remediation, removing manual toil, orchestration tooling and infrastructure-as-code patterns
  • Lead the Incident Response platform, and build a scaled, global Critical Incident Management Team that continuously aligns with Addepar’s strategic business needs
  • Be responsible for the Release Management platform, evolving tooling to modern Release and “CD” pipelines
  • Own the Disaster Recovery platform, ensuring the means exist to quickly recover degraded services, including instrumentation, runbooks, and tooling; ensure systems can fail gracefully when services are degraded.
  • Lead the Observability platform, ensuring adequate instrumentation and alerting exists to spot leading indicators of potential incidents
  • Own the Job Management platform, establishing a single-pane-of-glass view of automated jobs, supporting successful completion of critical jobs, and feeding critical issues into Observability and Incident Management platforms as needed.
  • Incorporate standard methodologies and processes into Addepar's Architecture and SDLC platforms to ensure stability and reliability are built into new solutions.
  • Champion and drive the establishment of a mature, enterprise-wide CMDB capability in support of multiple operational and security needs across the company

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of relevant working experience leading SRE teams and/or DevOps functions (or similar), with a strong technical background
  • Track record for driving successful transformation programs and processes for continuous improvement
  • Creative, critical thinking with an engineering approach, and a passion for simple, efficient processing
  • Ability to identify trends and promote technical solutions that take on challenges efficiently across the organization
  • Prior experience of building and handling SLIs, SLOs and observability capabilities at a large scale
  • Experience growing and building highly effective teams
  • Highly-collaborative teammate who can build strong relationships at all levels of the technology and business organizations
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, executives, and technical teams, and share measurable progress toward results
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS EC2, S3, Cloud Formation, DynamoDB, Route 53, IAM, ELB, CloudWatch, Lambda, SumoLogic, Grafana
  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Stonebranch is a huge plus
  • Knowledge of privacy and security control frameworks
