Scientist II Disease Biology

At Absci, we value motivated, collaborative, and innovative scientists. For our Disease Biology role we are looking for these values in a scientist within our Drug Creation department. The qualified candidate will have a strong background and experience in various molecular cell biology techniques and assays. This role aims to help establish and expand our preclinical disease-relevant models and lead development efforts defining our assets’ mechanism of action in in-vitro settings. By actively contributing from the bench, this scientist will be responsible for developing and conducting in vitro work packages to support and advance Absci’s drug discovery pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, design, organize & conduct preclinical in vitro studies to advance our internal therapeutic programs.
- Identify and evaluate (new) in vitro models and technologies to enable novel target validation and lead discovery screening, and perform lab-based activities to support various research efforts towards MoA understanding and therapeutic lead development.
- Help build complex in vitro research and development capabilities.
- Author and review articulated SOPs, study reports, and data presentations.
- Work in a dynamic and collaborative Disease Biology team that works closely with key stakeholders across our interdisciplinary R&D teams.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in pharmacology, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or related life sciences disciplines and 4+ years of post-Ph.D. research experience with at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in biologics R&D.
- Experience in cloning and protein expression in various systems and deployment of these techniques for assay development.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and mechanistic in-vitro assays.
- Experience with human PBMCs/specific immune cells and supporting assay development for biologics screening is highly preferable.
- Experience with various lab techniques such as western blot, qPCR, FACS, MSD, ELISA as well as multiplexing approaches.
- This position requires extensive benchwork (>80%)
The salary range for this position is $115,000 - 140,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to equity, compensation packages include a wide range of medical, dental, vision benefits and ability to participate in our employee stock purchase plan.
