Sr. Director Alliance & Growth Strategy

The Senior Director, Alliance & Growth Strategy, will be a key leader within Absci, responsible for managing and optimizing strategic partnerships and alliances. This role requires a deep understanding of biopharma collaborations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-faceted relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in alliance management within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries and will be adept at fostering collaboration and driving joint project success.

Responsibilities:

Drive Growth Strategy to ensure Absci meets its mid- and long-term goals

  • Lead the evaluation and prioritization of the portfolio, including the bi-annual portfolio review process. 
  • Drive the Target Selection Committee (TSC) to ensure effective value creation.  The TSC is responsible for selecting new targets to be considered for our internal pipeline and evaluate partner targets to inform the Deal Committee
  • Leveraging competitive, customer and market insights to identify business and market opportunities 
  • Lead alliance management to maximize the value of partnerships and ensure alignment with Absci’s business objectives.
  • Advance new and ongoing partnerships. Manage the day-to-day relationships with biopharma partnerships and ensure excellence and timely delivery of projects by aligning external and internal stakeholders.  
  • Partner with business development to develop new alliance agreements and coordinate account and project plans.  Work with program management to ensure adequate resourcing is being applied to each project and the timing of the resourcing. Manage contractual obligations and milestones. Negotiate with the partner in the event of differences. 
  • Ensure alignment and mutual understanding. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders. Proactively communicate and work with teams to ensure alignment and understanding of deliverables and any potential bottlenecks.  Proactively identify issues, potential conflict, and risk with partners and the program. Track progress towards goals with measurable KPIs.
  • Innovate on behalf of the customer and identify customer value drivers. Maintain high visibility within the customer organization and broaden and deepen the relationships and discover additional areas of collaboration. Create an environment of continuous improvement to optimize alliance value. 
  • Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and external partners, ensuring transparency and mutual understanding.
  • Ensure inter-organizational training and provide key resources for Business Development and Alliance engagement to ensure a company-wide partner-focused mindset.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or advanced degree in a scientific field 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in alliance management, business development, or related roles within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, including at least 2 years leading cross-functional scientific and technical teams
  • Must have experience collaborating with external stakeholders

The salary range for this position is $215,000-255,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
