The Company

Dyno Therapeutics is reshaping the gene therapy landscape through AI-powered vectors. Through the application of our transformative technologies and strategic partnerships with leaders in gene therapy, we believe a future with life changing gene therapies for millions of people is within reach.

Our team includes world-class molecular and synthetic biologists, protein engineers and gene therapy scientists working alongside software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts to transform the landscape of available gene therapy capsids. Dyno has been named the 2021 NEVY Emerging Company of the Year, an Endpoints 11 Company and one of America’s Best Startups by Forbes in 2022 and 2023!

The Role

As a Sr. Scientist - CNS Capsid Validation, you will be a part of the capsid validation team working to demonstrate the performance of Dyno’s AI-designed AAV vectors in animal studies. As a part of this team, you will manage a subteam focused on molecular readouts such as vector genome biodistribution, transgene expression, and snRNAseq, ensuring the generation of high-quality data to support these studies. You will play a pivotal role in deploying Dyno's molecular assays for critical preclinical studies.

How You Will Contribute

As a Sr. Scientist - CNS Capsid Validation, you will have a direct impact on the success of Dyno's preclinical studies by leading both scientific and operational aspects of your team's work.

Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the design, execution, and analysis of studies in mice and non-human primates (NHPs) to assess vector genome biodistribution, transgene expression, and single-nuclei RNA sequencing (snRNAseq). These studies are key to validating the efficacy and safety of our gene therapy capsids.
  • Build and optimize molecular assays (vector genome biodistribution, transgene expression, and snRNAseq) that will be used to demonstrate the performance of Dyno's AI-designed capsids in animal studies. Your work will ensure that data from these assays is robust and reproducible, providing critical insights for both internal teams and external partners.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of Research Associates, guiding them through daily laboratory work and long-term career development. You will also be responsible for ensuring high performance by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists across multiple disciplines (e.g., vector design and production, bioinformatics, and computational biology) as well as external partners to integrate data from multiple sources. You will ensure your team’s efforts align with broader company goals and contribute to successful project outcomes.
  • As a scientific leader, you’ll split your time between hands-on laboratory work and strategic oversight of your team’s activities. You’ll play a pivotal role in both executing experiments and ensuring the team meets project milestones, maintaining flexibility to step into different roles as needed.

Who you are

  • Trusted partner
  • Team oriented with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Capable of balancing leadership duties with hands-on experimental work
  • A commitment to openness and scientific integrity
  • Able to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders across the organization
  • Thoughtful & detail oriented
  • Work with a sense of urgency
  • Appreciation for opportunities at the intersections of data science and biology

Basic qualifications

  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in biotech or pharma.
  • Expertise in AAV biology or relevant work in the AAV gene therapy space.
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) and molecular readouts.
  • Proven people management experience, including performance management responsibilities.
  • Strong time management skills, capable of juggling multiple projects and team responsibilities.

Preferred qualifications

  • Expertise in the CNS/neuroscience space.
  • Experience in assay development, single-nuclei RNAseq, mouse and/or NHP studies.
  • Computational skills related to molecular biology data analysis (e.g. NGS or single cell RNA-seq readouts).

For government reporting purposes, we ask candidates to respond to the below self-identification survey. Completion of the form is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
